I'm stuck in an endless loop here I can only post sometimes and when itdoes I get this message:

Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0

BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media…

I insert a start disk reflash the bios and it reboots... I go into the bios, set everything up again and then the system won't post... I restart again and the above checksum error appears again.... anyone experience this? Thanks!

Your temps should be higher with the ultras remember I just have the gt's, I knew I would get a lot better temps with the Zalmans because of the crappy stock coolers on the gt's....
The stock cooler on the eVGA Ultra's was actually decent, which is why it was so big I guess. I mean my temps are pretty much the same, maybe 5-10 degrees lower, I can't remember. I should actually take a picture of the stock cooler, the HS beneath the cover was huge.

The stock HSF on the EVGA's Ultra is just a little bit better than the Zalman and much better than the NV5. I saw benches where the Zalman and NV5's scores were actually hotter than my Ultra with the stock HSF (even though their benches were based GTs and some other lower performer cards, which suppose to be cooler). I did test mine after a few hours of running RTDRIBL (the most intensive GPU program there is) along with two SP2004 sessions (one stressing RAM and one CPU) with the case close and still the temp never goes past 66. My HSF is based on copper, so that really helps. And for this reason (running cooler with the stock HSF), I never care to bother with the Zalman or NV5.

I got that when I installed the 1007 bios after weeks of being perfectly stable on 1006, going to 1008 beta fixed this, guess I'm still waiting for 1008 to be released for real

1008 Final has been out for a while now on the German servers. You could download through Asus Update.

Hmmm, I finally seem to be stable with 71.89 video drivers. My system used to hate them, so I was using 71.84 which were the most stable for me before. Could it be because I updated the BIOS to 1008? Would a BIOS change actually effect the stability of a graphic driver? So far I am setting personal highs in 3dmark05, and 03, with 71.89. Haven't had a crash yet (crossing fingers) which is much different than before when I would have had a bunch of crashes by now, gonna do some more testing.

Edit: Bah, everything goes to **** again once the computer comes out of standby.

Nah he just e-mailed me today they're sleeving it now I was a little busy so I rma'd the Silverstone just this past Monday, I also ordered a new fan controller (nexus 201) and a Sunbeam Quad LED kit, so as soon as my PSU arrives i'll get to work and try to make my rig as neat and good looking as possible. I'll post pics...

Right now it's running on my old Antec 550W, and it is certainly running well, and much much quieter than the SilverStone, so I am definitely looking forward to the Sleeved Enermax. I will actually probably send this Antec in to get sleeved in the future if I decide to build another rig.

I should add I might be switching from the v1000 tower to a Lian-Li PC-7b in the near future. The v1000 took a beating being shipped back and forth from NY to Florida. Left side panel broke off a little bit so it sticks out. And the bottom got bent up, and pounding it down has been a little difficult, so it doesn't roll on the casters as well as it used to. But I did the best I could, and at least it's standing on all 4 casters now, before it was a 3 and you could tilt it back and forth. Plus in the long run I might be happier with the PC-7b Quad edition from performancepc's, because 1) it's black 2) it's not as open as the v1000 so it should be quieter 3) the side intake will keep my 2 Ultra's running at lower temps, and 4) it's standard ATX instead of reversed upside down, so I could run it on top of my desk like I wanted on the right of my monitor.

Unhappy

After I sold my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and went with DFI NF4 LP SLI-DR for about a month, I have decided to go back to the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe. The DFI has too many memory options to play with, it becomes very unstable if you don't have every option set just right. I guess I will never be an extreme OCer like many are to be patient with such product. When I get my A8N-SLI Deluxe from ZZF, I will find a way to sell my DFI mobo. (If anyone is interested in it, let me know in advance - Price will be determined later on). It's simply too much headache if you are not an engineer of some sort. To fully utilize the DFI to its fullest extent, including all the memory tweaking options, you have to be a geek, which I feel I'm not after playing with it for the past several weeks. I feel like I'm a newb, even though I've been a computer maniac since 1986.

Also, just ordered an A64 3200 Venice to play with at the same time. Might get rid of the 3700 Sandy as well. Hmmm...am I doing the right thing here?

right now I've got a pair of 512mb BH-5 mushkin 3500's, which on my board don't want to hit 1T anyway
If you use 2x 1gb sticks 1t should be no problems

Yeah I knew you'd be back Be good to get one of the more active posters back in this thread again

As for the old discussion we were having about the chipset/video card. I couldn't be happier with my SwiftTech/Zalman Combo, I'd say go for it, unless of course you are satisfied with your NB47J with broken fins (which I haven't forgotten about )

Yeah, some how, some way, I guess I'm not of an OCer I thought I would be. I guess I'm just a mild OCer, but rather have things easier done than lots of options to set and then when all are correct except one, there's instability issue and I just hate that. I love the OCability of the DFI, but I hate its instability when I can't set everything just right. I've been having many random reboots and I begin to dislike it for that fact, even though sometimes it's my fault of setting everything correct. But there are so many options to set and since I'm not an engineer or geek, I just can't do it. So, here, exhausted and hopeless, I'm back to a mobo that I know will be stable with mild OCability. You should've read the DFI Office thread, where if you could hear me, your ears might have been deafened by now. Hehehehe...LOL.
