Zepplin, don't install Steam on the new box. Just copy the steam or valve folder from 1 machine to the other, run steam, and it will work!! Pretty cool.

Hi Ya Jim,

Yup, I too have not had an issue with FedEx, but just about 10 years ago UPS went to hell. Sorry to hear about your USPS problems, I would request places to send via USPS instead of UPS! The only thing that burns me about USPS is that they support things with our hard earned dollars. If the employee's as a group want to support something, that is fine. It also frosts me that all of the junk mail that eats up our forests gets insane discount pricing from USPS, as far as I am concerned, the USPS should charge a premium for junk mail.

I have had Zero issues with ZZF. Fast and reliable.

If I go South about 25 minutes I am at Fry's, and if I go West about 25 minutes I am at a different Fry's. My issue with Frys is that except for sale items, they are very, very expensive. The wife unit wanted a new KB, OK, I found it on-line for $71 shipped. Walk into Frys and it is $101.xx plus sales tax. So, except for advertised specials that are a realistic value, I don't need to pay a 50% penalty for instant gratification. Scares the moths in my wallet everytime I walk in, there is just so much cool stuff!

Opps, sorry bout that, guess it just my night to rant a little

What is nlt?

Your crystal ball looks real shinny there olde Jimbo  Get an olde Sata II 10,000 rpm drive and the CPU and GPU...whoosh...

Thanks for the heads-up on the pins.

Cheers,

Zepp

However, the USPS causes veins to bulge out of my forehead. They are hosed-up beyond belief, but it's to be expected as we're subsidizing them.

I still prefer NE so I'll probaly make sure I order nlt Sunday so I'll get the order Wed or Thurs. I never ordered from ZZF even though I have an account there.

I see a 7800Gt and 4800+ along with a 160gb Raptor in my future!

BTW: I am sure you'll pay more attention on the front panel header pin connections much more so than I did - I lost about 30min troubleshooting non bootups because I inadvertantly skipped a pin!

I never left. LOL I follow the Intal threads as wel as the AMD threads now. Just don't post too much.

One word of advice when you install the drivers. I would't install the NV Firewall software when you are installing the driver. While I haven't tested it myself, MANY forum members in here have reported problems with it.

Thanks for the reminder. I read this thread and the 32 thread from the beginning, and that sure seems to be a no-no. I do have a hardware firewall on the network.

My sentiments exactly towards the USPS - in fact, I remind the delivery person every few months. Yep, you got to hit Fry's at sale time or not at all. They're expensive. That was the reason I built a backup machine, if things went South in a hurry on my primary rig, I would avoid panic time and cool and casually order from NE/ZZF.

No Later Then (NLT)

Take Care

In fact if I remember correctly, other than the actually Nvidia chipset and LAN driver, latest BIOS, Cool & Quiet, Realtek, Nvidia Graphic Driver, and ASUS Probe, I needed nothing else to get me going. I avoided the IDE driver as well.

Roger on the ide driver just go with MS ide driver in xp pro, and if your going to overclock you don't have to install the cool and quiet....

Ahh The Cool and Quiet driver. It does more than cool and quiet. I HIGHLY recommend the driver. Hummm I say this thinking you bought a dual core cpu. If you didn't get a dual core, don't bother with the aMD driver.

Which reminds me - what exactly is the AMD Driver? I didn't install it so I hope I'm not missing something.

Thanks for the info That is now on my list of no-nos as the CPU ordered is the 3700+.

Just learned that Steam is putting out HL2 64bit. Makes me want to get additonal OS for this system and make it dual boot, XP32/XP64. JT seems to think that the 64 bit takes more memory, I haven't looked into 64 bit because there was nothing I wanted to run, so I am clueless on how much memory would be required.
