Question Abit Nf7-s

Ok, so I'm running an NF7-S mobo now, instead of the Asus A7N8X that wouldn't even post before.

Sparked up fine, everything running perfectly.

Have a few games installed.

Ok, so I "try" and install an MS-DOS based game, Sierra's King's Quest 6. Near the end of the installation, it says something about "Now installing Windows 1.0 video driver."

Everything seemed to be ok until I turned on the computer the next morning...everything going normally, then right after it goes to a screen saying something like the windows32/configuration or something or other is corrupted and that I need to run XP repair, or whatever.

Well now my mobo won't detect my floppy drive which has the driver to detect my Seagate serial ATA hard drive. So I can't reformat, I can't repair...I dunno what to do.

If someone could help me and finally get me squared away I would be MOST appreciative.

Re: Abit Nf7-s

P.S. Yes, I found out MS-DOS games don't work in XP because XP doesn't HAVE MS-DOS. LoL.

Ok new problem, when I boot up, it says /windows/system32/config corruption, please load the windows restore cd and use 'r' to repair.

What's the deal?

Does that mean I have to reformat? This computer is just giving me problem after problem. Comp runs FINE for a whole day, then after I shut down, and try and turn it on the next day, something always happens, it's really starting to get on my last nerve.

Any suggestions?

You may be getting corruption from your SATA drive. Make sure that your bios and SATA driver a synced up. Check the Abit web site for details.

I would say so...the newest BIOS is targeted towards reducing SATA data corruption and from what I hear it's an improvement.
Many are saying data corruption on SATA is now a thing of the past.
Check for the best SATA drivers as well.

Angry Ongoing drama....

Ok, so I update the bios. Cleared the CMOS and booted up. Goes straight to the same system/config corruption. Now I can't boot from my XP installation CD...I wish I could get this system up and running without any problems, what's the deal? If anyone can tell me how I can get up and running, I'd really appreciate it. Doesn't look like I'm having any luck. *sighs*

Im sort of new at this seeing as how ive only built two systems from the ground up but I did build my wife a NF7-S and I also had a little bit of trouble that I couldnt fix either untill I ran out of options and decided to run a memory tester program and low and behold I had a bad stick that I can only imagine was corrupting my installation of my OS and giving me the same error message that you are getting. I dont know enough about this stuff to say that the memory was the problem but as soon as I took the bad stick out and re-installed the OS the problem was solved. Hopefully this can help you.
