Well still useing the 502 shipping BIOS, and its Temps and Volts reporting are wacked!!

Board detects my x2-3800+ default voltage at 1.4, when it's for sure 1.35. I then measure at the MOSFET with a DMM and it's actually overvolting to 1.425 But the BIOS reading is 1.396

So I set FSB/VID to manual, to gain access to voltage control, set the voltage to 1.35 and reboot, DMM still reads about the same 1.415 volts BIOS stills says 1.396v.

Next stop set BIOS to 1.3v reboot, and DMM reads 1.415 BIOS reads 1.396. So I go for broke figuring a no POST would happen and set the BIOS to 1.2v reboot, DMM reads 1.415 BIOS reads 1.396

At this point I'm starting to think the 502 BIOS don't allow voltage changes, so I set BIOS to 1.425 and reboot, DMM reads 1.478v BIOS reads 1.412v

VDIMM haven't messed with much yet, but if you leave it to auto, the board sends 2.75v to the DIMM slot.

And like usual CPU temps are 10 to 12C off, BIOS shows hotter than temp probe.

Yea but it'll be inthe morning, I'm recharging the batterys for my Digi cam.

I dont recomend doing it though. I have a special Pomona needle probe made to do things like this. The Vcore read point is in diffacult spot, and IMO dangrous to try with out special tools.

I sometimes have to pull the cover on car computers and measure voltages and frequencies while the car is runing, so I have the tools and am used to doing stuff like this.

FB is your SLI bridge made of regular PCB? Or is soft and flexable?

flexible, whats yours?

that vcore thing really bothers me, it would explain why the temps at stock speed were about 5C higher than the DFI board.so i guess what PCProbe is reporting in windows is pretty much correct?

Flex

What probe reborts is the same as BIOS 1.39 which is a little low. The Digi Meter at the MOSFET it's reading 1.417 thats 0.021 off. Which is close enough for most people .

The part I dont like at all is not being able to get down to a true 1.35v. If chooseing 1.2 in the BIOS still gets 1.41 then Asus taken away controll from fine tuning. Will see if a newer BIOS fixes it before I make any judgment

No, and I'm starting to get a little miffed with them again.

I ordered from them on Tuesday, and was assured by someone that they had 24 in stock.

After no sign of shipping yet, I called again this morning and get a response that it should ship today due to the holiday. Still nothing.

I think I may just call and cancel this order on Monday.

I agree. It seems they have a habit of doing this.

I tried to order a 2gb set of the 3500LL Pro Corsair memory a few weeks ago, and had a similar experience with them.

Turns it it was on backorder but they oversold and charged my card anyway.

Oh well, maybe this is just a sign to stick with the stable board I have now.

Sorry to get off topic...

(EDIT: Just checked my email and it seems I received confirmation of shipping at 1:30 am this morning. Who knew. Guess I'll get to play with this board afterall shortly. Looks like the upgrade bug has bit reared it's ugly head once again. )
