Because I don't think the lock is going to work if you flash to it with a Rev.1 board.

Well the snips you can buy with the kit (frozencpu.com) kinda sucked. They really scratched up the outside of my case. We discovered they were doing this and switched to a dremel tool. Much easier that way. I had to touch up the scratches on the case with a black permanent marker.

yes, you are right. i guess it wouldn't hurt to send it to Tony to see if a modded one would work like 1005.021.

It's going to be at least another week before I get my phase change system up and running. Still waiting for some parts to come in. I will probably use the Gigabyte board first since I can run with higher RAM speed. I can get my 3700EB will do 260 @ 1:1 with 3-2-2 timings and 3.4v. May boost the voltage a little more and try for 265. 265X11 = 2915MHz.

My A8V was running a little strange when I took it down to Southern California. May have been a condensation problem. I tested it outside of the case last night with air cooling and it seems to be running fine again.

What tip to use on the Dremel tool? A disk or a metal cutter and if metal how skinny is the cutter. I have access to a Dremel but there are hundreds of bits.

Thanks,

Sandog

Sandog we used a disc to do the cuts with. It takes a little time but patience pays off there. It was still faster then using the snips I bought along with the kit.

Ok guys, I made some progress last night.

I have stable 260 HTT/9.5 Ram 2:1 2.5.5.5.

1.625 Volts. @ Load 56c.

I do know I am stable @ 2.519 ghz also. I may try to squeez more speed out later, but I am very happy with what I have now.

Where did you guys find the BIOS 1007? I can't find it on Asus' download page for A8V. The link provided by Sierra didn't have it either.

You sure it's not there? I just clicked on the link and saw 1007. It's in a zip file along with several others. Some browsers have trouble reading ftp links.

same question xgman

currently i am using a 1.02 with working locks and a 3500+ . thursday i have a bunch of parts coming in for two systems i sold including a FX-53 (i am selling the 3500+) and a Asus A8V rev 2. board

any opinion on whether i should keep the 1.02 board or the 2.00 board. i know there was some initial question about the rev 2 but how about now...

maxx
