| Well Wazman if I were you I would downgrade my bios to 1009 version which is really rocking according other users. I sadly didn't have a choice, I bought this mobo flashed with 1011 to support my San Diego Core CPU. I cannot test it with a lower version bios. For the ram settings put them on manual set them up accordingly Cas latency 3 Ras to Cas 3 Ras precharge 3 Active precharge delay 8 also set the voltage of the ram to 2.7 volts. Keep us posted For my problem I have no clue why I don't have more memory performance, I had a 3500 NC core on an Abit AV8 and it scored way better in the memory department than my current rig. With the 1013 bios I saw a good increase in memory performance but the Read performance is way to low to my likings, also in Sisoft sandra their way lower than usual. I will print my bios settings maybe you can compare what is set wrong or not. Thx for the help guys

| Update on Bios 1013 beta regarding my poor memory performance. Looking at A64 tweaker and after fiddling around with some settings I lowered Row cycle time ( 13 detected by Bios) to 10 and the Row refresh cycle time ( 24 bios) to 12 and guess what it was way better here are the old Read 4843Mb/s Write 2317MB/s Latency 46.5ns here are the new Read 5538Mb/s Write 2388MB/s Latency 45.7ns gonna do some more testing, these settings were a non boot with the previous 1011 and 1012 beta bios ( even lowering these a few points was a non boot for sure and a Cmos reset was necessary) Once memory speed is up to par I'll test the dividers

| here they are I needed to loose the timings, they survived a few passes of memtest but in SuperPI 16 and 32 I got errors around 7th iteration. Here's a screenie of the detected A64 tweak settings Everest Home : Read 5481 Write 2057 Latency 46.5ns Sisoft Sandra Bandwith Int Buffered 5912 Bandwith Float buffered 5895 These numbers are at DDR400 speeds no OC yet , hope the numbers will improve with the final release

| These are the loosened ones, difference with the ones with the Pi errors was Row Cycle time 10 Row refresh Cycle time 12 Better memory performance in Everest home (write test around 2320 )but a no go in SuperPI I would love to see some other A64 tweaker shots so I can compare the other settings, I really hope I can get near the Abit scores with the final 1013 bios version

| Tested new Beta bios 1013.007 Improvement in the read 2320 Super PI stable decrease in write for me 4856 lol this is driving me nuts !! New bios has other memory timings than the 1013.005 all set to auto in the bios but I verified them with A64 tweaker and the XL ram SPD is better read out and near the settings I had in the previous post of the A64 tweaker.

| 1014.001 Bios Did anyone try the new 1014.001 beta Bios yet? Flashed it and fanspeeds reports are totally messed up. clearing cmos didn't help this time. After doing so the fanspeeds got reported correctly right after i booted up again, but after setting the Bios up and restarting, fanspeeds showed half of the speed the fans were really running at, resulting in a CPU fan error warning. Did anyone else see this too? -Lef |

| This board is just weird... after resetting cmos a few times more along with switching off the PSU the board suddenly started itself without me pushing the "ON" button (which it normally shouldn't do) and the fanspeed got reported normally again and stayed that way... Never had as many oddities with my previous boards as with this one here. My next board won't be an Asus/VIA one, that's for sure. I think i'll give Jetway/ULI with their A695DAS a try - PCI-E without the need to trash my AGP videocard right away. |

| Absolutely no prob shere, I like the 1014 because memspeeds are up a bit ( thx for that) and it survives SuperPI at tighter timings (set auto by the mobo ) Isn't there soemthing elso wrong with your rig ? Did you have issues before flashing to the latest Beta ?

Those issues went away when i installed the Nvidia 6600gt AGP i use still. I think its safe to say that the VIA AGP solution for this chipset is far from optimal. And what's it with the RAM bandwidth? With the RAM controller inside the CPU itself, shouldn't the chipset not make that much of a difference? But still the Nforce3 chipset based boards get a much better bandwidth. Is it the bioses fault (Asus) or is really the chipset (VIA) to blame? I get a fraction of the RAM bandwidth after tweaking the hell out of my ramsticks the MSI K8N Neon Platinum gets by default; and that's something im not exactly happy with... Guess why i try out every new bios revision i can grab *sigh* Personally, as soon as this Jetway board i mentioned is out, it's no more VIA/Asus for me for a while. -Lef | |
