Monarch Computer will likely have it before Newegg because Monarch is an AMD launch partner.

Don't be surprised if FX-57 doesn't show up till June.

Who needs FX-57. PC Ice just did this with a Venice chip and DFI NF4 board.

BTW, this is also posted in the Venice thread in A64 General Discussion section.

Looks like he was using a divider. According to the CPU-Z page, RAM (G.Skill) was running at 241.5MHz with 2.5-3-3-7 timings. Very impressive.

oh, I see. I was getting ready to track down some of that gskill 4800 if it did 312 1-1 at 2.5-3-3-7-1T.

I believe it was a three-stage cascade. More importantly, it appears Venice (at least the 3800+) does not suffer from the cold bug like Winchester did.

It's scary to think what FX-57 and that kind of cooling would do. I think the 4GHz barrier for A64's is going to be broken in the near future.

Been watching your struggles.....

It's soooo true------how many times have I gone trough the 3dMarks and Prime95----ran the crud out of my machines to ensure they were rock stable....

Only to start playing a high end 3d game and it crash the machine left and right.

I don't think the 3dMarks are very good high end stress testors although 3dMark 05 seems to be better-----yes, they give you a score-----but do they REALLY tell you if your machine can handle other 3d apps????

I say, for the most part, no......

I'd be nice to have a high end 3d game stress testor----something you knew that if it could pass this-----it would stay stable with almost any game.

Maybe it's already out there and I just don't know what it is......

Prime95 just doesn't cut it for 3d games......

Anybody have a candidate benchmark/tool that they'd recommend???

John

Memory compatibility question

Hi sierra, you have made my experience with my new toy so pain free. I just re- read your first post where you linked the ram compatibility for the dfi board. When I went to the recommended memories for NF4 page, I noticed that some of the ram where listed in black and alot in blue. Does it mean that one is better for oc than the other?? I was looking at PC4400 (DDR550) Mushkin/Hi Perf Dual Pack/Samsung/512MB *(K4H560838F-TCCD)

WOW!!! I'm not alone anymore
I have the same problem. I can clock my old school Twinmos BH-5 to 260htt cas2-2-2-5-1t and run all the benchmarks even 3D, but try 5mins of singleplayer HL2 or Doom3 and the result is bluescreen or crash or some sorta issue.

I can even get game benchmarks to run....but "IMO" they do not represent real world stress. Think about it when you run a game bench all your doing is replaying a prerecored demo of the game engine. No sound/USB and other system resorces that actual game play utlizes.
