| hey guys, been working a ton...like 50-60 hrs/wk Havne't checked on this thread since page 275 or so...got some reading to do Anyway, job went from well under 2000/mo to now just under 4000/mo...New car first, ridiculously expensive computer 2nd.... Figured I'd post b/c I hit the "where do they get the money" post. I think if you manage your money correctly and have a well paying job, the money brings itself. I have about $200 in bills, I'm sure you guys can do the math on my newly acquired funds. I'm sure I'd have more bills if I didn't live in ridiculously expensive orange county (i.e. rent $1100+/mo for a 1 bedroom apt is pretty damn steep compared to most of the other country), but even so, if you don't blow money on the little things that you don't need, the money quickly piles up. My best example is eating out lunch while at work instead of bringing something in. ($6/day x 5/week x 4/month x 12/year) = 3.5 2x1gb Ballistix Tracers. Six bucks being average price of a combo at some fast food place. In my case, I sometimes eat lunch and dinner at work.....or one incredibly well equipped computer. Anyway, now that I have made my random appearance at 5AM, keep on benching donko, sierra, blue, john64, etc.... Love just observing and soaking in info whenever I get the chance (close to never). ![]()

| Notice how the "warranty void if removed" sticker is partially over one of the clips holding the speaders on. That can easily be removed with a little heat from a hair dryer and being very careful with a razor blade. |

It's quite possible they decided to use heatspreaders for marketing reasons. Some people don't want to see naked modules. I guess they look indecent. | |

| I think Eldonko linked before to pics of this guy's rig. He says it's a $12,000 project and that doesn't include his own personal labor. http://www.vrforums.com/showpost.php...&postcount=180 |

Different Note------Am agonizing..... Some guy over on the DFI Forum offered me $2000 for my DFI rig.... He loves the yellow and black theme----says he's rich and doesn't have time to build his own..... I'm tempted.... I want a new High Def TV and Cable/Sat system to watch Nebraska games, the World Series and NFL.... Let's see.... DFI----or NFL in high def..... Decisions, decisions......

It's a cunundrum..... Was just about ready to sell the trusty old IC7 and move the DFI upstairs as my personal work/game rig Have started playing with the abit rig-----maybe he'd take that one..... but I'm really starting to like the looks of that one as well...... Wish I'd listened to my old man and been a lawyer instead of a dumb old Airborne Ranger..... I'd sure have more money..... But then again----I did have some memorable times...... Gonna price up all that high def stuff-----32 inch wide screen plasma----or bigger----see what the REAL cost is.....

| 3800+ X2 Now Nekkid Got a brand new CCBWE 0529TPMW 3800+ X2 It's now "nekkid" It was not easy-----took a very steady hand and patience. The brand of "sovoplast" I used-----had little effect on the adhesive so I just used a razor and cut into the adhesive slowly at the corners a little at a time. The IHS is quite heavy and thick!!----without it-----the chip is as light as a feather and seems rather flimsy. I'm going to revise my earlier opinion-----I believe it is probably much better to leave the IHS on......the chip feels and looks "vulnerable" without it..... I think a bolt-on cooler would be absoulutely the way to go with this modified chip----much safer than a pushdown cooler-----less chance of hurting this modded chip. Steady----even pressure from a bolt-on would be totally fine-----at least it appears that way to me. This is not for the newbs or the faint of heart. NO WAY am I going to do this on my 4800+ X2 Then again........
