I would consider that very good bandwidth then, most of the people you see hitting 9K+ are using very extreme cooling on FX-55's at 3.5Ghz+

I use 218 with TCCD, works quite well

We got our RAM to about the same place Blue, I wish my NC could handle more Mhz though.

That bandwidth is great, I only got to ~7300 so far and am happy.

Sandra unbuffered results are more indicative of real world performance. What I find funny is that every time someone at XS asks one of the G.Skill users to show an unbuffered score, the response is usually, "uh, let me get back to you on that."

The memory is rated at 2-3-3-8 at DDR400. But you can tighten the timings to 2-2-2-5 with higher voltage.

What is your Crucial rated at? A lot of RAM with high DDR ratings can't run at Cas 2 when overclocked.
the vx 4000 is only $20 more here thanx for the info i was going for the 3200vx but the retailer i am getting it from said would if i like to change my order to the 4000 so you think i should go with the 3200vx.

the crucial is ballistix pc4000 i got it the 2nd day it was released @3200 its 2336 @ 4000 its 2.5,4,4,8 it works a treat on the a8n sli it would go 280@ 2.5 msi neo 1 its gone 300 at 3,4,4,8 t2 and msi neo 2 280 but the dfi it wont go cas 2.5 for love or money, will run cas 2 to 225 but if i want to go to 2.5 and raise the fsb to like 280ish its a no go wont even go 2.5 at 200.

emaild the gurus at dfi and they told me as long as the board has the no on last pci A01,2,3,its fine if its A00 it does not support ballistix so maybe some thing there mine is A01

anyhow thanx for your help m8 i think ill stick to the 3200vx

I've said this before but I think that to produce excellent results on this board, the set of ram, whatever the board, needs to be error free and dam near perfect. No room for iffy sticks that may work fine on other boards.

Off topic again, but this Canadian reseller below claims he is getting like eleven FX57's as early as next week. He says that his amd source pushed the eta up by a couple months. Not sure what to make of it.

As you know I've struggled a bit with my Ultra-D benching... however yesterday I was able to bench 3DMark at 3425mhz (without the Ricky Tweak)... The board is fast and I'm beginning to realize all my woes are coming from my X850XT... There's a discussion over at XS including Charlie, Pedro and Opp discussing how the X850 cards are underperforming in 2001 compared to X800XT PE cards....

With the same cpu speed and memory and timings and way higher clocks, I can barely beat my old X800XT PE score that was done on water. My X850XT is on phase change....

X800XT PE @ 675/635 on water with MSI Neo2 Platinum FX55 12x258 BH-5 1.5-2-2-5

VS

X850 XT @ 749/688 R507 Prommy with DFI Ultra-D FX55 12x258 BH-5 1.5-2-2-5

The PE must be internally tweaked I guess. Glad I opted for the PE.

Not sure I buy that business about the X850XT. Jason scored over 42.3K with a X850XT PE. CPU running at 3375MHz. If he was running at the same CPU speed as OPP, he'd probably be around 43.5K or higher.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8457777

Also, he's getting a cascade cooler, so there could be a real battle for #1. I sometimes have mixed feelings about Jason. But he knows how to bench as well as anybody.

I thought this response from the so called tech guys at dfi was pretty amusing. It was in reference to some people asking about why the suggested 105mhz for ati cards on the nf4:

original thread: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6950

Angry Games:
"it was Rgone's suggestion. I always use 100Mhz and never faced issues with it."

I'm was actually trying some of Jason's memory timings yesterday and they are fast. He sure knows his stuff... It's amazing though with his x850 score (those are pretty monster clocks!). If there's nothing wrong with the x850, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!?!

Regarding BIOS settings, the only thing that matters is what works. The best settings for BH-5 and VX are ones I found myself. For VX, I started out with some loose timings that one of the OCZ people suggested. I then gradually tightened as many settings as possible. I can run VX over 3400MHz with loose timings, but there's really no point because it will be slower than 3394 with tight timings.

Also, you'll notice that both OPP and Jason are using VX. That should tell you something. They are both strong believers in bank interleaving which you can utilize with VX because they are 512MB modules.

VX is getting better. Can now do 3404MHz stable.

Yes I guess I just need to play around more... As for VX, I just tracked down a set here in Toronto that apparently does at least 250+ at 3.4v... will give it a shot. Hopefully they will help a bit....
