| For now I'll just try to make the AL one work. Unfortunately I didn't finish it last night, got too busy, no benching even. The good news is that I'll be able to send ya one - weighs nothing. Would be a lot easier if I get the AL stock planed down a little. I'm thinking about getting a new power sander - bench type to do the job. BB tonight with some pics.

| Popped the IHS today. TIM was hard as a rock, no wonder chip ran so hot.

| yep, looks the same as my Opti. I figured a little dab of ceramique would do the trick. That's the other thing, I'm trying to work the standoff so a piece of paper drags btwn the core & straight edge...no big gaps!

| What are you cutting the thing with clyde, mitre saw? How will you make a slightly raised edge like the stock one?

| The slightly raised edge is the only part I'm making...a hollow square. Cutting out the middle with a coping saw.

| Ahhhhhhhh! I didnt realize you were doing this, should be good but make sure your dice pots will rest weight on IHS not on core.

| yep, that's the idea. I think that when I try it I'll put some LETover everything but the core, then set the standoff into it while it's still wet.

| I'll say this...I know why they put so much TIM on there. I thought I was pretty close & gave it a dry run using just the right amount of ceramique but it's still too high, got to take more off. A big glob like they used at the factory would have sufficed (for them).

| I think this is as far as I'm going to take it...another wisker wouldn't hurt though. This was done with about 10 - 15 lbs pressure. Of course I'll make certain the core is in full contact with TIM & pot when I actually run it. Should be MUCH better than stock! ![]()

| Hey, that's looking great Donko! Got mine on the desk here, cleaning it up to try the standoff - see if it'll fit.
