Lighting strike, motherboard fried?

Hello ,
I have a brother that lives in another state than I do and he was using his computer and it was lighting and the lighting hit near by and ever since then his computer will shut off after he pushes the button to turn it on, he pushes on the button..and it shuts back off ... he doesn't see anything on the screen before it clicks off, does this mean his PC Motherboard is fried? He has unplugged it and tried starting it again but it does the same thing, just shuts off. Anyone experience this type of malfunction. I don't use the PC that much because of extreme dry eyes so I will just say "THANK YOU" all in advance if I don't thank everyone individually. My brother has gotten a laptop since then...coz it's been several months back and just doesn't have any time to get back to the dead PC problem...actually...someday he said he will take it in and get it checked out ... So...actually I am just curious as to what happen to it. I', the curious type

Good bye, and thank you for your time,
taloe

Re: Lighting strike, motherboard fried?

Do you mean the PC powers on for a moment (how long?) and then shuts down?
