| I just got my system running about 5 days ago and flashed it to what was then considered the final bios release 1006.003. Runs great Does anybody have any knowledge of what the dif is between what is now being called the final (1006.004) and the new beta 1006.005 and what I have flashed now--1006.003. Performance or otherwise. Just wondering if I should mess with it from 1006.003 Thanks

| Don't switch to the "final" 1006.A. I found the 1006 final to be far more stable and I am on the 1006.A now and regret it. Stability is much less then the original. I believe the date on the good one was 2/23/01.

| Thanks for the info I am probably just going to stay at 1006 for now. I have no problems to fix. Just speed hungry....

| I reflashed my bios last night from 1002 to 1006.005 no problem detected. With 1002 I was unable to increase the frontside bus above 145 without the ratio dropping from 133/133/33 to 133/100/33. after the reflash I was able to increse the fronside bus to 156 and still maintain the ratio at 133/133/33. I did have to increase the voltage to 1.70 but other than that I had no problems with 1006.005. I noticed a slight decrease in speed immediatly after reflashing but that was due to rebooting with default bios settings, reseting my memory to 3-3-3 7/9. I reset that to 2-2-2 7/9. I have noticed that as I attempt to increase the fsb to higher and higher speeds, my memory bandwidth tests results drop like a rock. the cpu performance increases but memory bandwidth decreases. I am now running my 800eb at 936 and it appears stable. with the stock fan and heatsink Ron

| Grep, after 140 FSB memory band width drops off, on the cusl2. You need the WPCRedit and WPCRset tweak to fix the problem. |

| If this is true then they put the wrong bios bin files in the directory on that german site.

| Well Stevo, I hope you are wrong -- the March 6 posting at the German ASUS support site http://www.asuscom.de/de/support/techmain/technical.htm says that there is a 1006A BIOS for the CUSL2-C [which has no onboard audio]. I interpret the ASUS.DE site to mean that the 1006final [first final] was the equivalent of the beta 1006.003; now there is a newer final version 1006A which they say is the equivalent of the beta1006.004. Currently there is another 1006 beta [.005] being floated around. Those 1006A final versions are available for -C boards and also for CUSL2 boards with ["mit"] and without ["ohne"] onboard audio.
