Cool! I'm trying to wrap my head around the differences between these boards. It's complicated... P5AD2 Premium - PAT, dual DDR2 533, 2 PCI-E 1X, 1 PCI-E 16X, 2 GB LAN, HD audio, IDE RAID, 6 SATA RAID ports on two controllers, 1 1394a and 2 1394b ports. P5AD2 Deluxe - PAT, dual DDR2 533, 2 PCI-E 1X, 1 PCI-E 16X, 2 GB LAN, HD audio, IDE RAID, 6 SATA RAID ports on two controllers, 1 1394a and 2 1394b ports. What's the difference between the "Premium" and the "Deluxe"? ![]() P5GD2 Premium - NO PAT, dual DDR2 533, 2 PCI-E 1X, 1 PCI-E 16X, 2 GB LAN, HD audio, IDE RAID, 6 SATA RAID ports on two controllers, 1 1394a and 2 1394b ports (although the text explanation says nothing about "a" and "b" here, so it might just be the older "a"). Again there appears to be no difference between the P5GD2 "Premium" and "Deluxe". P5GD1 - no PAT, no DDR2 533 but dual DDR400, 3(?) PCI-E 1X, 1 PCI-E 16X, 1 GB LAN, although it says dual in the text, HD audio, IDE RAID, 4 SATA RAID ports on one controller, no 1394 ports. P5GDC-V Deluxe - same as P5GD1 but with dual DDR400 AND dual DDR2 533 (yep, there are 6 memory slots!), 2 1394 ports and integrated video. So it makes some sense, but it's pretty confusing since the feature tables don't match the text and some features don't make sense (i.e. going DOWN from the P5GD2 to the P5GD1 gets you an additional PCI-E 1X slot? :confuse2: I think even ASUS is confused. The dual GB LAN feature is nice since (I'm guessing) you could network two computers and have them share an Internet connection with no additional hardware. All this stuff is nice but can the 800 MHz FSB processors take advantage of all that memory bandwidth? I thought they maxed out at dual DDR400. Also interesting is the fact that ASUS claims DDR2 600 support on a chip officially pegged at 533.

1394a=400mbps 1394b=800mbps as I recall. Looking at the pics of the two top boards... looks like one has one more SATA slot, and the Premium has 2 x Gb-Lan onboard (didn't think the deluxe did)

Hey, does anyone know if any of the new Asus P5xxxx series motherboards have an onboard High Definition Audio (Azalia) header physically ON the motherboard? Or even a footprint for said header would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

| Not quite sure what you mean, they include the entire Azalia chip: Quote:

Yeah, I know it comes with a codec on it, but as a research project, I'm playing around with similar things, and just wanted to know if there was a 16-pin azalia header on there.
