| ASUS is going to release its new board based on i815E step B chipset - TUSL2. The version without RAID controller onboard will also be available - TUSL2-C. So, you can see that there is nothing special in this board compared to CUSL2 except Tualatin CPU support. http://www.digit-life.com/news.html#989876796

| I know I'm not. My next upgrade is to the pentium IV when they hit around 3GHz

| By the time the Tualatin hits 1.5GHz...if it ever does...the Northwood should've passed the 2GHz mark already...and since intel wants YOU to buy a p4 instead of anything else...wouldn't you think the Northwoord would be a better buy since they're probably gonna price the Tualatin close to the P4 anyway? Either way...i'm staying with my system right now. Until people get a hold of this DDR thing...and everything else settles down...I won't be building a new system for awhile. |

| I've already got a PIV 1.7 and will probably get a Nothwood when they come out! I just get them, play with them, then sell them! Already have someone interested in the PIV and I've barely been able to play with it! LOL! In my position I don't really go by what is the "best buy" ..........I sell an average of 5 systems a week and build them all......AMD. Intel, whatever! They're both good and I enjoy what I do because it affords me the oppertunity to constantly have the newest hardware available!

| i'm with tomp this whole tualitan thing is a pile of BS....they will pay for it i'm sure. lets see... release a cpu (P3) release faster and faster, till they have to recall....(1.13) release next gen (P4) release another gen, in between the two existing? while at the same time stating that they want to move the P4 to mainstream by the end of the year.. unless i can get tualitin REALLY cheap, itwon't happen... cryogen

| this whole tualitan thing is a pile of BS Yeah.....I suppose that's one way to look at it..........but on the other hand, no one will "make" you buy it, and how can a lower voltage, .13 version of the PIII (which will afford it the oppertunity to clock higher BTW) be a bad thing in the interim? From a few "unofficial" benchmarks I've seen, the Tualatin is pretty impressive! Hey, here's my take........let the thing at least become available.....then, if it sucks.....bash it all to hell! Read the info at http://www.intel.com ........this thing may well be the C2 replacement and be around at least until mid '03!

| There is one problem here, unless you want to but another chip that has been crippled by design I would stay away from this thing all together. Does it not bother anyone that intel put limits on this chip so it would not run any faster then a BX board. It really started to eat at me at the way Intel crippled this almost great chipset. 1: No 4 way interleave for memory 2: AGP memory size at 64 3: AGP 4x disabled above 140MHz, this one might be the fault of Asus but this has been done for stability reasons. Since Asus has many other Boards that this does not happen to I am guessing that it might be the fault of the chipset. 4: All the memory problems with double sided memory on this chipset is also a drawback. Unless you buy Mushkin rev 3 single side you can't come close to 512Megs. 5: limit to 512 Megs is another drawback. I know Intel can do better but why should they, people keep buying crippled chipsets over and over again. |

| Anybody know if the TUSL2 will be backwards compatible with the Coppermines? Still no DDR, when is intel going to drop Rambus?

| Asus should do what Gigabyte is about to release... http://www.gamersdepot.com Now, that's looks like a good deal and Asus should have the same policy !!
