Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Sorry about my error about the boards, Still I'd check ASUS web site for the newest bios. It still sounds like a bios update would help.

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Pops here's your answer to your problem, and what I suspected.
This is a quote from a Newegg P6T Deluxe v2 user here's the quote

"Pros: relatively nice layout of board, plenty of options

Cons: Would not read 2 of my sata drives

Other Thoughts: I spend a good heal troubleshooting, swapping cables, and using different ports on 2 of my drives. It made me doubtful so i plugged them into 2 of my other pc's and they were picked up no problem. I did a BIOS update, and now all of my drives are recognized. Hope this is useful for other people who may have similar problems"

Go update that bios, and enjoy that new mobo.....

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Hate to say this after all your efforts to absolve my problem but I am still at square one. I updated my BIOS to 0504 and still get the big explanation mark in Yellow. Tried uninstalling them after the new BIOS update as well to no avail so it looks like I am going to have to resort to IDE drives.
I thank you for your efforts on my part but unless I have messed up in my BIOS configuration ( and I have tried default setting ) andd am in the Enhanced mode but no luck. Pops

One more thing for ya give up. Try setting the DVD Region in Device Manager, right click on your DVD, and open properties, under DVD Region tab, pick United States then OK. See if that helps....

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Does not show a region, it gives a location of 0 (0) under General but no way to change regions which in it self says something is wrong somewhere.

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Hi Sir Scully,
You are listening to a beaten man and one so frustrated I am nearly at a point of hiring calling the nerds at BBuy.
Spent the am replacing my SATA drives with an old Plextor DVDRW and a Lite On DVD ROM drive. The plextor, one of 2 I own has always worked like a charm as has the Lite-On. Hooked them up and to my surprise I got the same exclamation markased in yellow in Device Manager. Tried everything I could think of to no avail including messing in the BIOS every which way and no change.
Just before dinner I swapped them back to the SATA drives but switched the cables from my HDs to the DVD drives and visa versa and my results are the same a big exclamation mark in yellow. The hDS show up and work with the different cabling but my DVDS are the same. In booting up I read them including DMA where they are etc. but not in Device manager.
Hooked up a Floppy today and that is NG as well but I haven't used one of them in so long I may have the cable cockeyesd but too frustrated now to pull my case again to see.
To top this off I had written you a response eaarlier and tried to open explorer againg to get the name of my power suppy and my computer froze on me so I am typing again.
My PS is a Corsair 650TX 650 Watts ATX12 that I dislike intensly because of the length and number of cables and the difficulty in assembling the four pin power connections as I am always having to move a pin to line things up.
Everything else works fine but with no DVD Drives I can not do a clean install of XP Pro nor load other software including Photoshop that I need for my photography.
Kindest regards,
Pops aka John

I have had for this day and thanks for inquiring I am wondering if I have a faulty MB and if I should put my Resoluton Workstation MB back in and look for help in setting all the mind blowing functions.

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Frozen windows, maybe bad memory. There is a free memory tester on the net, memtest. You can google it. If ya can get on the net. PS sounds like it has sufficient power. Its always possible you have a bad motherboard. But most times a bad motherboard, will just not even fire up at all. It maybe the better option going back to your Resoluton Workstation MB. Go to the ASUS Forum most likely there would be some instructions there, on how to set the functions.

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Hi Sir Scully,
Went to ASUS Forum ,lots of headaches there on one thing or another.
Memory is good:
Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory

Tried to downgrade my 504 bios after reading some threads but couldn't do it heck I had a hard time getting it to upgrade but no luck going back to 406 which some people at the asus forum recommend.
One frustrating situation.

Re: HELP: Installation Motherboard / CPU Setup

Hi Sir Scully,
Replaced my P6T with my P6T6 Revolution MB to no avail, same problem and no fixes at ASUS. Can't do setup can't load software so now I'm wondering if I should pull my hard drive with the OS on it and try to reload Windows on a different drive.
