Yeah, I know. Stinkin' Canterwood chipset board uses unbuffered ECC (PC3200) whereas my AMD760 chipset board is using buffered registered ECC (PC2100). Sometimes I really hate AMD and Intel. Why does the stupid Canterwoods require unbuffered RAM?
---------------------------------------------Upon further checking:
Note: I just double-checked Crucial's site and the RAM I have in my Canterwood will work in my AMD760. This means that I can upgrade to an Opteron; however, I will be using only PC2100 RAM. If this link works it shows both types of ECC RAM I have works on the AMD760.

Called in Sick

Well I called in sick to work today to see if I could fix these problems I'm having. Its driving me nuts! I woke up this morning and turning on the computer and it got to the windows xp splash screen then rebooted loaded again to the splash screen then rebooted again. Then I got the fans powering in and everything in my system powering on but a black screen. I hit the reset button and it finally made it into windows xp desktop. I'm going to take the motherboard out of the computer case and power it up and see if that helps. Then I'm going to try another power supply, I have an old antec 400 watt one. So begins the great debugging game today :-) I'll keep you updated....

Eliminating the reset button by disconnecting it at the board would help. I have a power on switch pulled out of an old Compactto start up a board outside the box. Hope you are comfortable just jumping the PWR pegs to start it up.

Sounds like u have a faulty mobo. Running it outside the case is a good idea. Turn it upside down and shake it for metal scrap to fall off. Could come from badly done screwholes etc. They like to find their resting places between legs of small IC's. Who doesnt want to rest between legs? (well if theyre female, that is...)

Weird

Ok Just for the heck of it I unplugged my 2 120 mm Vantec Stealth fans. Both were plugged into the MB, via the Front Fan 3 pin plug and the Rear 3 pin Fan plug. I have start the computer a few times and no problem and I have also restarted the computer a few times no problem. I wonder if it could be the vantec 120 mm fans? I am going to start and reboot my computer a few times and see what happens.....

There is an option for windows not automatically restarting when they find an error. U can find it in: my computer-properties> advanced- startup and recovery> settings> uncheck automatically restart.

Running

I'm running a hard drive check, but so far that seems ok too. I was wondering if maybe the On-Board Lan might be a problem, I am going to put in a nic card and see what happens....

Hi, i did some searches on the web and:

"The Stop 0xC2 error message indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform a memory operation. This error message is typically caused by a faulty device driver or software"

"Parameter 1 = 0x41 : Attempt to free a non-allocated nonpaged pool address

Parameter 2 = Starting address
Parameter 3 = physical page frame
Parameter 4 = highest physical page frame
"

So it looks like one of your drivers is trying to free non-allocated memory. To see what driver it is see if you got a minidump file in c:\windows\minidump and read this article it will help you interpret the minidump file: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;315263.

Here is a small article on what pool memory is and how it works in XP: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...1156058,00.asp.

There is also a possibility this could be a hardware error.

For starters I would not have case fans plugged into the mobo headers at all, let alone 120mm fans. Check the wattage specs on the Vantecs and see what they say. I have NO fans plugged into the motherboard at all.

I thought you were going to try and diagnose by taking the board out of the case and eliminate the possibility of a bad power or reset switch?

Well

Well I tried the reset switch as well as the power switch no go. I just now plugged in my old Antec 400 watt PSU, and my 12V rail went from 11.7 to 12.1 I wonder if I didn't have enough power on my 12V rail........will continue to look at the power supply...

Once I installed my Audigy 2 drivers I got the bsod regarding faulty drivers. If you installed the Intel Accel. software before installing the Audigy 2 drivers this could cause the bsod. Just by removing the Audigy 2 from the board cannot fix the bsod because the drivers are still going to try to load.

Tried

Well I pulled the auidgy 2 card out and it still did it. But now I have unplugged my network cable and disabled the on board lan. I have restarted my computer about 20 times it hasn't BOSD once. Could a bad cable or on board lan be the problem? Should I try another drive for the on board lan?
