Ok now I'm really lost. I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows xp. Everything was out and disabled. I installed the Intel Inf chipset drivers and rebooted then I got the Blue Screen again saying "Bad Caller Pool" I find it hard to believe that it is the Intel Inf drivers. It was the new ones too. So I am reinstalling windows xp and than I'm going to put in the old Intel Inf drivers and see what happens. I have checked my memory a dozen times I also used memtest86 and it showed no error so I am at a lose..........

Nobody PO'd here P4.

I just know what it's like when you have a difficult problem to solve. You need all the patience and objectivity you can find so I just wanted Falcon to be able to get all the that and all the help he could find to make it work without too many distractions.

Did you have a look at Mr. Steveo's operating install guide Falcon?
The order of things is important and may provide some perspective.

I would recommend the Cat3.6 too. Pointreyes would like want to use the Insomia drivers. Forget that, it's inside joke

I can't believe I'm still up with only one cup of coffee and no food. Oh, it's lunch time.

Regarding the Intel drivers-did you install all the XP service pack, fixes, and DX9.0b before or after the infs? Normally, it makes sense to install the infs immediately after installing XP but sometimes it does not quite work out that way.

Falcon26.

So the same blue screen with just the vid card, memory and the hdd? That is so strange. What Intel INF "exactly" are you using?

You should be able to try diagnostics after the XP install without Radeon or other drivers period. I tend to run memtest and some Prime95 before anything else gets installed.

I believe the Inf drivers were version 10.05.12 something like that. Its the new ones on intel's web site. I installed windows again and this time I used the inf drivers that came with the motherboard version 10.00.09 which are like 6 months older than the new ones. And now I have rebooted a few times and its been ok.

falcon26 - I haven't seen you post your mobo yet. It's not by any chance an Intel 875PBZ is it? Are you by any chance using BIOS P12? That Bad_Pool_Caller BSOD is an artifact of that BIOS, as are various cold boot/reboot issues. BIOS P05 is the most stable BIOS and the last BIOS where PAT is actually enabled, try it.

There's also (I think) issues with the Audigy card but you'd have to read the giant 875PBZ thread (there's a guy who had trouble with his, his posts are from the last week or so).

If you're not using the 875PBZ + BIOS P12, nevermind this post, consider it a free bump.

Actually I tried that board and now I'm using the Intel I865 Perl. And after 3 days of trying to figure it out, I've throw in the towel. I have tried everything I have rip the guts out of the computer and tried every possible solution. Nothing works I always end up getting the cold boot problems and the "Bad Caller Pool" error no matter what I do. I want to thank everyone for their help, you guys have been great, thanks very much. Now that I think about it the only thing I didn't check was the actual CPU. I have a P4 2.8C and that was the only thing I didn't check, but I doubt that would be it. Anyone l'm off to Newegg to order a AMD CPU and motherboard. Thanks again.

I would have loved for you to have tried an Asus or other 865/875 board but your frustration is understandable Falcon.

Hope your AMD replacement goes smoothly for you.

Let us know.

Curious question: Is the printerport disabled?

Depending upon where you live you might want to check locally for an Abit NF7-S. I got mine for $120 which is nice in case I had a problem with it, my RMA would have no shipping costs. Hook up a Barton XP2500 with some good RAM and you are set to go. Er, I hope.

Funny that you should ask, but yes I have the printer port disabled in the bios, all serial ports are for that matter. Do you think it could have something to do with that? I did notice in the event viewer that it has the yellow ! reguarding a printer port or something.

Absolutley Not.. Thats not the problem.. Dont confuse the issue. I personaly feel that he has a voltage regulation problem on the motherboard. It almost seems that there is some kind of fluctuation happening in the system. Which is causing random issues..

Try one stick of memory.. Dont use dual linear mode yet.. Let me know..

Would the CPU give you the "Bad pool caller" error?
