I took a pic of it which was a ridiculous idea, you could not see it unless the pic was very high resolution. I’ve got the only display selected in properties (FPD) and I used the INF’s off the Dell CD for monitor support. I am still using 1024x768/75Hz right now but I’ve had it at 1600x1200/60Hz. I am using the DVI cable of course. The brightness and contrast are at 50 and I turned the brightness up 5 points, contrast was not adjustable. Controls seem OK, the Plus one appears to have two levels or else it is a little hosed (haven’t read the manual). S3 works the same as before even with the DVI cable but the video input selection LED on the monitor stays on (bright green) as well as the power LED going to a dim yellow. Also I have two unknown devices in hardware that are Radeon XT related. Couldn't get rid of them at all. I have the both Radeon devices showing in display adapter fine. I had to uninstall drivers and run the ATI uninstall utility then reboot in Safe Mode and run the ATI utility again. I still had a 9600 card driver in there before. I did this twice and still the two unknown Radeon devices. Everything works fine though.

So far I am happy. Happy because it works 100% especially only 1 bad pixel and now it is working. I know I have to get use to this LCD monitor though. The monitor is bright but it is not the glassy clear bright you have with a CRT display. Anyway, here are a couple of pics before I go off and join a clan scrimmage. That will be the next big test, how the monitor does in a 10 person clan match in UT. Will I see ghosting? (I hope not).

Hi Sandog,

Congrats! Just a suggestion based on my experience with the Hitachi -- set it at it's "native" resolution. It's 1280 x 1024 on the 17" Hitachi, but is going to be higher than that with a 20" screen. Text and your desktop will be much, much more clear. It takes a little getting used to, but the added sharpness and clarity make up for the smaller size, and once you do get used to it, it is so much nicer (or at least it was for me). Also, the refresh rate doesn't really matter with an LCD -- they don't "refresh" like a CRT monitor does.

Best,
Bill

I believe my monitors native resolution would be 1600x1200. At least that is what it came up as and that resolution sounds typical for a 20" screen. I would have to do something like what Pentium4 had done and that is adjust the font size to 150% which I haven' tried yet since everything is so small at that res. I looked at 1200x1154(?, around there) and I liked it. This monitor has totally transformed my room around and looks 'teh SEXY'. I am very happy I bought it so far and I am getting happier.

I am not an LCD expert nor a display connoisseur. I know there are some qualities of this monitor that do not stack up maybe but they must be few. I do know it works great, looks fabulous and has a full warranty from the seller who will replace it no questions asked with another brand new one (not refurb) and of course Dell warranties it. This monitor has taken over by storm according to all the forum posts I've read. If anyone is interested in this monitor brand new in unopened box for the low price of $779 delivered, let me know in a PM.

Big grin.

Me either. However, I learned a lot after I got the Hitachi, as it really was something different to get used to. I had to change some font settings as Pentium4 did in order to get things the way I liked. Now though, I hate having to use my 17" CRT monitor at work, as it sucks in comparison

I think you got one of the best, if not the best 20" monitors available today. From everything I've read, it's a fabulous monitor. Now, I just need to scratch up $779 somehow...maybe sell the wife?

BillC, you have got to have this monitor. Spend an extra hundred and take the wife out to dinner first. Don't know how many more monitors this guy has.

Sandog, you're evil. Evil, I tell 'ya. It'll take more than a hundred dollar dinner to get the wife to "buy" this one. Sigh. I have the money, it's just that she doesn't know I have the money, if 'ya know what I mean.

Hope nobody minds all the monitor posts but I really don't have the D875PBZLK on mind right now as you can understand. The mobo is so good anyway it just lets me forget about it now.

I have to tell you something that is really cool about this monitor. I had all the lights off in my room last nite which is how I usually play UT and there was this beautiful moonlight glow all over the top of the desk. I could clearly see the white letters on my keyboard and it was not even close to the monitor. With my 19" CRT monitor I could not even see the keyboard and I had to turn the light on if I didn't know where a key was. It looks just like moonlight on a full-moon all over my desktop. It is not bright enough that you notice it unless you look down and then your eyes don't even have to adjust to the light it is so soft. Anyway things are really turning out good. I got an email from BB and they shipped my new Logitech Desktop MIC and also NewEgg shipped this cool new (black) cable MODEM to me today.

I will have another desktop pic posted in about a week with my new hardware and desk cleaned up.

I don't mind going off-road. That's why I have four-wheel drive.

TQ,

I used to have 4-wheel drive (and 4 doors), but now I'm down to 2 wheel drive and 2 doors. Pretty fast 2 wheels, but probably won't be worth a flip in the snow. And we get so much snow in Oklahoma, as you probably already know.

Best,
Bill(2-wheel)ski

Hiya Sandog,

Do you realize how long it's been since we were all discussing BIOSes and glitches with this MoBo? A looooong time, to be sure. I'm glad that Intel finally worked out ALL the kinks....that was BIOS P21, wasn't it? Or was it P22?

If its low to the ground could you use it as a snow plow? Also you could go 4-wheeling in that vehicle I'm sure. Once.

Just trying to help like always.

As far as software support for the D875PBZLK I have been checking everyday. I search the FTP site for the newest dates and nothing has come up for our board since that last spec. update I posted. I am expecting IDCC to get updated but it hasn't either. Maybe Monday when the new chipsets get intro'd we will see some updates to IDCC but then those changes won't apply to our hardware anyway.

No good news on Prescott's either. Looks like Intel might not be as prepared this Monday as it would like and of course the products it introduces will be vaporware.
