| Well, I've done a bit more playing around, and I'm up and running p12 now. I also figured out what was happening, I think, to my previous attempts... You will recall that the problem running p12 perviously was a stalled boot -- it got past POST fine, but stalled after with a blank screen and a cursor. If you turned on "verbose" boot (can't recall the BIOS setting) I got an error saying "unable to load OS"... First, I run a RAID-O array, and this was what was causing the problem in loading p12 (and re-loading p07). What was happening is that it was not figuring out my RAID disk was my boot disk. Telling it to do so takes a few steps, which weren't immediately obvious to me the last time I tried. The steps necessary to get it to boot correctly with my configuration is as follows: 1) Load new BIOS via one of three methods (web link, bootable disk, or jumperable disk). 2) Immediately enter BIOS upon reboot (you can wait for checksum if loading p12) with f2 key. 3) In the ADVANCED menu, DRIVE CONFIG section, make sure that INTEL RAID TECHNOLOGY is [ENABLED]. (it wasn't for me) 4) Save and exit. 5) Upon reboot, verify that the RAID screen comes up (it goes by pretty fast, but it is the white and green text screen that says hit ctrl-i to enter, but don't do that!), and re-enter bios setup with f2 key. 6) Go to the BOOT menu, HARD DISK DRIVES screen, and change your disk1 to the RAID disk, and (in my case) the other hard disk as disk2. (not sure if this is necessary, but I do it) 7) Still in the BOOT menu, this time the BOOT screen, change the BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY to your liking, but making sure that your RAID array is one of the choices. 8) Save and exit BIOS. 9) Viola, a working copy of p12. I've only been running it for the time it's taken me to start hotcpu and type this in, but it seems stable thus far. Hope this helps someone else...Mike p.s. I've got a "AZBZ" running 2,3,2,6 memory timings.

What if I have Raid enable in bios and for some reason I can’t see the message that says Press CTRL + I to enter Raid config. Should I have two drives connected to SATA I have only one ( Raptor 36) Or my bios is corrupted (P12)

| in order to have raid enabled in bios you must have 2 harddrives hooked to the SATA. One will not work because you cant have a raid without 2 harddrives |

| I have also noticed if a bios update adds new features to the bios it automatically resets all the settings to defaults. In this case if you have a raid and get a new bios it will give you a checksum error and unable to load os or whatever. All you do is enter setup and reenable the raid and the OS will boot |

I'm a bit put off that some in this thread have thrown in the towel on this mobo. I've had not the first problem (other than BIOS upgrades) running it. It is rock solid and performs very well -- the reasons I bought it. I've never even seen a BSOD, warm boot, or any other major error. I think those who've had troubles are usually trying to get too agressive with memory timings that barely affect real world performance, and I'm confident that Intel will even work these out. PAT is a bit of a red herring. Regardless, this board rocks. After another 24 hours of running p12, I've experienced no problems. Have fun...Mike

| From what I have read Sandog, the P4C800-E is one of the most forgiving 875 chipset motherboards out there right now...Not nearly as picky with RAM and everything tends to work as it was designed...It should be here in a few hours, and I'll let you know as soon as I get it set up
