Now that I am rev 300+, I'll stick with 2.5-3-3-7-2T @ 2.775 and see. My issue seems to only appear over the long term so I'll give it a shot. I should just be happy with 3-3-3-8, but I guess the part of me that paid extra for 3200C2 memory instead of 3200 won't let me rest.

clicks with soundcard...and so on...

hi
i have clicks and pops sometimes when i hear music and do other things (especially internet games / open folders with much pictures...while i listen to music and so on...)
is there a chance to reduce this ""timeouts"" bye doing some configuration changes in the bios and/or operatin,sys, - device manager???
I MEAN something like native and enhanched mode or disabling ide ports (for example secondary ide...) or is it finaly BAD to swich to native mode when i use a op, sys, that can handle enhanced mode ... i mean is it mor a " u can " or a " u have to" thing...???
...i mean i mean i mean...Sorry ... bad english ...
but if u are also interested in this stuff there is a pdf on the intel webside (i cant post the url - to less posts till now...) its called:
"Intel® 82801EB (ICH5) and
Intel® 82801ER (ICH5R)
Serial ATA Controller
Programmer’s Reference Manual (PRM)"

ok lets see what will happen ..hehehe .. thanks for any ideas!!!

Hiya gang!

I've run into something a bit concerning with my D975XBX system and could use some help.

Those of you running Vista, can you go into your device manager and take a look at the UltraDMA values for the channels that hold your SATA hard drives?

My system has three SATA devices: 2HDD and 1 SATA DVDRW.
In the device manager, the obviously slower drive (DVD-RW) is listed as UltraDMA 4. But the HDDs are listed as UltraDMA 2.

Questions:
Can anyone else confirm what I am seeing or are you seeing higher UltraDMA levels?
Have any of you Vista folks installed the Intel INF software or just went with the native Vista INFs?

Thanks in advance!

======================================

For those unfamiliar, go into device manager. THen it's easiest to set "View" to "View devices by connection." THen start expanding the trees. Note the Item called "Intel 82801 ...... Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C0." Expand that item and double click any items called "ATA Channel _" Once the item pops up click on the "Advanced Settings" tab. Under Current Mode the UltraDMA mode of attached devices will be lsited.

=============================

A belated thanks to 3of7, Sandog, and others who helped me with a quick question a few months back. I didn't mean to be rude and run off without a thank you.

What's up guys, I was looking at this page
www*intel*com/design/motherbd/bz/bz_proc.htm
and saw that my rev 205 doesn't support Extreme edition cpu's.

However, when I emailed a guy selling a 3.4ghz EE he said its just the prescott cpu that the 205 doesn't support. Is there anyway to get an EE to work with my board, or am I stuck with northwoods?

No it doesn't. You need rev206 or above with fmb1.5 according to the processor support page for the D875PBZ.

Ok, so its the fmb 1.5 thing, I couldn't find that info anywhere else. I just knew the EE's were based on northwood architecture, so I was hoping they would work. Thanks for the help.

So is there anything else wierd about this board? I have 1gb of ram (2 dual-sided 512's, ddr400), I'm think of adding more, probably 1gb of the same type. Can the board handle that?

No problem. I have all four slots filled with 512MB sticks.

Mine has 4 X 512MB as well, but make sure the modules are the same configuration or the Dual Channel memory won't work.
