I believe that on/off/on is a "feature". I'm not sure why it does it, but it seems to be normal, and isn't affecting anything (when my board works at all).

Already have a board replacement on the way, and will likely RMA the one I already have. Also have more DDR3 on the way (totally different brand/speed/etc.) for testing, so we'll see how it goes.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

By the way, last night I set memory to 9-10-10-25, 1.55V. These were really high latencies so I got the itch to OC for the first time with my Q9650. I set the FSB to 400 and booted into Windows no problem (3.6GHz.) Temps after gaming for 30min were a high of 49C on the hottest core with Hardware Monitor. The game crashed after 30 mins though so it was not completely stable. The board ran fine in Windows and hard gaming for a long time though at 400 FSB and I was pretty impressed. I think with the right tweaking and a bunch of BIOS updates this board will win a lot of users over.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Do you guys think this board will be reliable and without these restart / freezing / or hangup problems down the road?

I have until this coming Sunday to return this board and get a new one or a different one from Fry's. Same as you were saying Sandog, I'd rather not take everything out and have to re-seat the chip / thermal grease and hook everything up again but I hope I'm not being too pessimistic about this board.

It is rather new to the game as far as motherboard standards go right?

What do you guys think of the Nvidia SLi boards such as the 780i and the 790i how it compares to the DP45SG? Been reading alot of reviews about them and customer feedback on Newegg.com

They seem to have a much better time with initial installations and stability without any restart problems or unusual hangups for the most part.

Oh another thing...I run that hardware monitor program and my Zone 1 temperature registers at -66C for some reason. Do I have a defective board?

Are you RMA'ing it for a new DP45SG motherboard or you going with a different board?
Yes, and other wierd issues.

RMA is with same board. I believe my NIC (network card) is defect.

everyone seems to agree NOT to go with nvidia chipsets right now.

Check out xtremesystems.org forums... The most popular boards right now are the P45 Asus boards.

I went for DP45SG because I liked the fact it had no legacy on it, and because we are an Intel reseller and always liked Intel reliability. If you want a safe bet go for Asus, although I believe the dp45sg will be a solid board once the bugs are worked out with bios updates.

No download realtemp.. google it...

Temp sensors are unreliable and very prone to defect.

I had that issue with my P5Q board (P45 + ICH10R) with the HD4870X2 but it does not occur anymore. I think it stopped doing that after i updated the bios.

Greetings

No, I get that default reading also for Zone 1. There are only 2 or 3 zone temps on the mobo.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

hey all... first post here.

I am on my 2nd board. The first one, I ACCIDENTLY disabled my USB.... when there's no PS/2 ports, thats a huge problem. Especially since you can't clear the bios settings manually without a keyboard (no, removing the CMOS battery doesn't work... it just resets the clock). If you disable USB, you're SOL.

Ok, so I'm on my 2nd board now. Since the first boot I've been having the same problem Sandog has...

I push the power button, it turns on, then turns off, then turns back on and boots normally. Also, I have issues in S3 sleep mode. It will turn everything off, but then usually a minute or two later, it wakes itself back up.

Also, when I restart the computer, it completely shuts off, then turns back on. So therefore, I can't use any of the windows based utilities to flash the bios.

Note that I had NONE of these problems with my first board... and I was using ALL the same parts. Therefore, I don't believe this is a RAM or PSU problem. I think the board has the problem, and if this next bios release doesn't fix it, looks like I may be moving on to #3.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

@Chevy

Had that "funny accident" also with an DQ35-board. But putting the BIOS-Jumper to "Maintenance Mode" puts back USB-Support after Reboot, going into BIOS and reactivate the USB-Port while using an USB-Keyboard. That definitely worked but now it´s to late for you. ;-)

I don´t have these Power/On/Off issues with my Dp45, does it happen on normal "warm reboots" ? I remember with early DP35 boards (BIOS revisions) it happened from total cold boot (PSU OFF!), that you had to push the power button twice to start the system. But it was fixed with later BIOS versions.

@Topic

As I said, i had huge stability problems under Vista x64 including reboots doing nothing on the desktop with normal settings. Fresh Installation including just the latest drivers from Intel and ATI Catalyst 8.8.

However, I have absolutely no stability problems running Windows XP on the DP45 even overclocked. The following settings run stable without any voltage tweaking, running two Prim95 instances (max heat and max memory usage) plus Furmark while complete Virus-Scanning for hours.

Would like to post a pic but i´m still not allowed...

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

same instability issues here with vista 64x ultimate

Runs great on XP

I also tried Server 2008 x64 (based on Vista) and I was really fast... Seems its a Vista bug only...

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Maybe another BIOS/Driver-Issue which affects Vista 64x stability only atm. Does anyone tried out Vista 32 ?

I tried that! No keyboard! Believe me.... I covered all bases on that one.

I just really hope they solve this on/off/on issue in the next bios... I dont feel like tearing the system down again.

Post a few more times, I think ABX requires you to post a certain number of times before you can upload documents and images for new users.
