Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

i still get the on/off/on cold boot using a EVGA 9800GT.

Sandog,

you don't have that problem anymore?

Also, I'm still running the RAM at 1.9V using 9-9-9-24 1333MHz (Corsair DDR3 2x2GB 1600MHz originally...sticker says it should do 1600MHz at 1.8V)

ls running the ram at 1.9V bad for the memory? Also do you think the DP45SG will support 1600 eventually?

Yes my computer restarts from a cold boot but that is minor. It might be something new Intel is doing with the mobo or a bug that needs to be addressed.

I am almost positive this board will not support DDR1600. If it does it will be marketed as a new mobo. A certified 1600 board needs more power to the MCH and probably more board layers. The P45 chipset will OC high though as the P35 did and as the the Penryn(45nm) OC'd easier than the original C2D, the P45(65nm) should OC easier than the P35. Toaster is up to 380 FSB (1520) and I was running at 400 (1600) the other night for over 30min but my memory was at 1.55V. I am waiting on a slightly better heat sink and IDCC to come out so I can monitor CPU temps before playing around with more OCing.

I'm hoping this week sometime. It should have been out already but Intel is probably making adjustments. A lot of times a new BIOS appears on Friday afternoon. Odd thing about the next BIOS for this board is that Intel has tied it to the arrival of the next version of IDCC.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

hmm...if that's the case..i might return my 1600Mhz RAM and just get some 1333Mhz...

I don't think it is good to run at 1.9V like i've been doing the past few days to keep the comp stable.

If you have 1600 DDR3, 1.9V won't hurt the RAM. If I look in CPU-Z memory it shows SPD's at 1600 and 1.9V. You can try what I am doing at the moment which is running at 9-10-10-25 at 1.55V. This was one of the other SPD listings in CPU-Z for my RAM.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

I see...i might try that?

quick question..what made you choose 1600 DDR3? Is it better to have than 1333?

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

I try to get at least the next highest FSB rating with decent (high performance) latency so I can play around with OCing. The 1600 2x2GB kit had better latency than any 1333 kit I had found and so far I don't regret it. DDR2 800 suited me well when I was using my Bad Axe.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

For those of you who might need extra parts for their DP45SG you can get them from here such as a USB + 1394-A rear-bracket.

Shop Intel has closed and this site is now selling what Shop Intel had.

Correct me if I’m wrong, the trend I’m seeing is Vista64 has some common issues while XP seems to be relatively stable and issue free. Is there any feedback on Vista32?

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

You might find a better answer in the Vista software thread. So far I am running fine with Vista 64 with SP-1.

vista 32 runs excellent on my board... very quick. Almost quicker than XP. I'm pretty happy with the performance in vista.

Monitoring the Core-Temps is running great using "Core Temp" (alcpu.com)or "Speedfan" (almico.com).

SpeedFan works on this mobo? really?
Are you able to give us some pics from the SpeedFan on DP45SG?

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

This is just kind of a FYI thing... I reflashed the bios (had to pull the jumper of course, because of the on-off-on problem preventing me from using the windows based utility)... then when vista loaded up again, my lan was dead... I was getting an error code 10 (device can't start). I tried it on XP, same deal... it was late at night so I was all like "f*** it". Turned my computer on the next day, and the lan worked again on both operating systems. Totally weird. I'm gonna wait til the next bios comes out to see if the on-off-on thing gets fixed. If not, I'm exchanging the board. The first DP45SG I had didn't have this problem, so I'm convinced this isn't a "feature".
