Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Guys, the P45 does not officially support DDR3-1333, only up to DDR3-1066, see the specs on the Intel page. Intel advertises the DP45SG as 1333 compatible but you see what happens... I downgraded my memory to genuine DDR3-1066 (Kingston ValueRAM) and have since never had any issues again - apart from a sporadic hang at code BA when rebooting.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Hello Wolfsoul: the specific memory modules are: KVR1333D3N9/2G. When I set the frecuency to 1066, it works fine (although the pc turns on, waits 3 seconds, turn off and then, turns on again)
But, when I set the modules to 1333 mhz, the hangs and reboots appears...Anyone suffering this symptmos?

Thank you all!

Those memory modules are set to work at 1333MHz anyway. Why don't you leave them at the default settings and not change anything.

I use four KVR1066D3N7K2/4G two GB modules with absolutely no problems and run them at 1333MHz 7-7-7. If you can get your RAM exchanged, get the KVR1066 variety: Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KVR1066D3N7K2/4G

This is a screenshot from my BIOS page (shows 2 sticks missing cos it's an old screenshot)

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Ok so Im using the wrong memory then or what?
Could be handy to know since I was going to upgrade to 8 GB for 64 bit..

Edit.. this is what intel SKyburg page says...

Memory

* Four 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets
* Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz DIMMs
* Support for up to 8 GBΣ of system memory

Hi: in your case, you use memory rated to work at 1066 Mhz in a MOBO which is set to work at 1333 Mhz. The problem is when you use memory rated to work at 1333 Mhz: the MOBO donīt like this kind of memory. I asked INTEL (I have an open case with them) and they say is a compatibility problem (with the memory). Kingston accepted to RMA the memory, but I think they want me to pay the costs of sending and returning the items: this is unacceptable!.
Thatīs why I asked if someone have had this kind or problems before. On the other hand, Iīve seen that your MOBO is in the "user defined" mode. Once you turn on your computer, it reboots after 2 or 3 seconds and then turns on again? Thatīs the behaviour in my case, once I downgrade the memroy frecuence (from 1333 to 1066 Mhz)

Thanks again!

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Well that means Im screwed then.. since Im from Belgium if Kingston would RMA them for me.. I would pay more than I would buy them on transport

Yes, indeed. The PC double boots whenever I set the memory to User Defined, but as long as the system performs fine, it is a trivial problem.

Try to get Kingston to ship you the 1066MHz variety instead. It's the same price as 1333MHz. And then overclock that while running at 7-7-7 instead of 9-9-9

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Well that was fun...
Went to sleep and the computer stayed on... when I checked up on it
Well yea..
Had to reboot.. wouldn't come out of sleep state
When I did that.. he wanted to resume, which is weird since I rebooted?
Anyway... he didn't wanna do that either so I chose "Delete restoration data and continue to boot system"
That one worked... but he a did a whole dsisk check
And fnally got back into Windows 7
Now is that my memory causing that.. or is it a hard drive

Try reinstalling windows. If you have xp or vista installed as well see if you get the same problem with those.

Hi again: ok, now Iīm not the only one suffering of double booting. Thatīs a relief! On the other hand, could you tell me if you up the memory voltage. I saw on the intel forums that one guys was suffering the same symptoms and up the voltage up to 1.8 V. Mine are now at 1.6V
Thank you again!

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Won't be able to test with 1066 until in 2 weeks..

It's not just us two who have that issue; anyone who sets memory to User Defined will get double booting.

I wouldn't increase the memory voltage just to avoid double booting. How problematic is it anyway? Hardly.

I run my sticks at 1.5V and they run symptom free.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

I underclocked my 1333 ram down to 1066 and adjusted the timings. I have had no problems with these settings now for 3-4 weeks and tested the stew out of it. Performance is good, it is the fastest desktop I have ever had. I will be happy with this rig until next year when I think some meaningful upgrades will be out cpu wize and graphics card wize plus some bugs might be worked out of Windows 7. I am going to wait for anything further.

I don't know if that help or not, I hope so.
