Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Newegg has it for $149.00 and has as good or better return policy. ...one more thing on HS grease. You can not rotate the HS like some places tell you to to spread the compound with the push-pin HS's. Some Zalman and Thermalrights you can twist the HS after it is installed but not push-pins HS's. If you install the compound according to Antec you will not have to rotate the HS. Last edited by Sandog; 10-21-2008 at 01:25 PM..

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Right now I am not sure what works with this board the best but if you are not going to OC then I would suggest 1333. Here's some selections of 1333. Newegg.com - DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666), 4GB (2 x 2GB), 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM, Desktop Memory, Memory, Computer Hardware

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Thanks for the link, I probably should stay with the 1.5v too, just in case I want to take them over to an i7 setup at some point? This might be a little off the topic, perhaps not, but if one is NOT OC'ng, is there any real problem/difference in using 2 memory sticks or 4 these days? I read on here somewhere that it was mentioned that the memory controllers now just really don't like it.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Hi I was just wondering about all this talk of memory voltage settings (Vdimm). Most DDR3 memory sticks out there comes with a 1.65, 1.7 or 1.8V specification. When a motherboard like DP45SG is rated for 1.5V memory and has BIOS troubles driving more than that on auto does that mean it is quite random weather you in fact are able to post the board so you can enter BIOS to set a higher Vdimm? Im waiting for my board and are reading ALOT about people not being able to even post the board because of memory related problems. THe memory I purchased is 4 x 2Gb OZC gold DDR 1333 rated at 1.7v I'm also interested like Damn Dirty Ape in knowing if I should expect massive amounts of trouble driving 4 sticks instead of 2?

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) I don't have too much room to talk about memory becuase I am still building. The only thing I can add and that I am going to do is use a 1.5v RAM kit. A couple of folks on New Egg have said that theirs worked out of the box. Timing doesn't look so hot with a 1.5v but it seems like it is a safer bet to reduce frustration as a rookie builder. I am going to wait for the board to mature and then maybe we can add some juice to the Ram. I am a little confused about the GPU though as it is my last component I need. It seems that one slot you can run 16x and the other is 8x which would make them both run at 8x in SLI. (I think, but is not what the review video on Tiger Direct said. They said both would run 16x....grrrr) Having said that it makes me want to go with like a 9800 GX2 (only $279 now on the Egg) so that effectively I will have SLI in one slot at 16x. I haven't budgeted for a the 4870 X2 but it seems sweet. I have heard of compability issues with the 4870x2 with Intel chipsets though. Or you can now do an EVGA GTX 260 - 216 core for about the same price at a 9800 GX2but it looks like the GX2 smokes it in benchies. Darn I wish I could make up my mind. Any recommendations? LOLBy the way thanks for the help on my 2x2 12v supply question Sandog. As it turns out the 750 tx by Corsair had a 4x2 that turns into a 2x2 12v by splitting it and I didn't need an adapter. Thanks for the help though. Last edited by TCRG tv; 10-22-2008 at 09:17 AM..

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) well... the on/off/on problem is preventing me from updating the bios. Time to RMA this POS! If your board has this problem, I'm now pretty damn sure IT'S DEFECTIVE! Have it replaced! The first DP45SG I had didn't do this! It's not a "feature"!

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Perhaps Sandog's earlier post #111 could be of use to get around the restart issue and update the BIOS. If that works and the new BIOS fixes the restart issue, you won't have to RMA the board. BJB

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) I had this problem also. I knew I could not update the BIOS from Windows because of the boot issue so I only tried using Recovery BIOS on a USB thumbdrive and it worked fine. You have to have patience though, it took a while to work (5min.) You don't mess with the computer. If I remember I just stuck the USB thumbdrive in and pulled the BIOS jumper completely off and let her go.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) How did you install the new BIOS? It looks like Intel skipped BIOS .0088, I will try the new BIOS this evening. FYI, new spec. update talks about memory some. http://download.intel.com/support/mo...e4912103us.pdf
