Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

Analog Devices, within the past 6 weeks, quit the onboard sound business. The stocks of ADI codecs like the 1988B and the new 2000B once those are sold that's it, no more will be made, but driver support from what I've seen will continue. ASUS uses ADI chips currently, but that will change once the stocks of ADI codecs are sold out, and then ASUS will either have to use solutions from IDT, RealTek, CMEDIA or Creative.

I tried the IDT Dolby Control Panel, and it isn't as good as my HT Omega Claro for Dolby Surround Sound, and isn't as clear. It could be that there is some adjustment to sound properties in Vista and my speakers that I need to do, the next time I decide to try the onboard sound.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

Also the DX48BT2 uses the same Sigmatel 9274D audio codec as the BA2 so you should be able to install IAS for both Vista and XP.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

SonicFocus is owned by ARC International, so SonicFocus isn't going anywhere.

The SonicFocus Blackhawk Equalizer, and an OpenAL driver is how, Analog Devices is claiming X-Fi capability, and the so called AD 2000B chip doesn't exist, it's actually a 1988B chip using the software I mentioned. I discovered this by digging through driver file for the ASUS P45 board.

As for my BA2, I have both versions of the driver in storage, the one with IAS and the one with the IDT Dolby Surround Control Panel. This way I can decide which one to use.

Actually the board has 2 PCI Express slots for videocards. Enlarge the picture of the board Sandog, on Intel's page, and you can easily see 2 Blue PCI Express slots for Crossfire on the board.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

Boy I wish this board were available right now. I'm getting tired of looking at ASUS boards lol. There is also an open-box DX48BT2 at NE for only $179

I've had my Q9650 in a drawer for almost a week but I will still hold out for the DP45SG.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

I'm waiting on it too, just ordered a new Case(Antec Nine Hundred), CPU(Intel Core 2 Duo E8400) and DDR3 RAM(Patriot Viper) from Newegg. It's down to $148.71 till August 28th for a sale at Dell now though it still isn't in stock.

Welcome to ABXZone,

I just got a quote sent to me from Dell with a locked-in price of $148.70 and free delivery. Unfortunately I have to pay state tax but the total is still low ($160.59 delivered.) Dell has a 10-day lead time on this item. Buy.com also has the board for a low price but nobody has the board in stock yet.

I will wait it out because I believe the P45 chipset takes full advantage of the new E0 steppings. Also this will be a cooler running board than the X38/X48.

I've been looking for some retailers in the U.S. that have this board out of curiosity, but haven't come across anybody that has it yet.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

Ordered my DDR3 RAM today. Also received a back panel serial port to 2mm (10pin) header for the DP45SG. I've got it all but the mobo.

NewBiiz.com - STT D3-1600 4GB (2x2GB) CL7 Dual Channel Memory Kit

I have the latest memtest86 on CD standing ready to test this memory as soon as I get the mobo.

Re: Intel DP45SG (SkyBerg)

Ordered my board from Dell yesterday and the estimated shipping date is September 9th, I have no idea what could be keeping Intel. In the meantime I'm probably going to return my E8400 and get a Q9550 instead a little slower but with two extra cores.

300$ for memory, which is basically the same like the old DDR2?
No chance... are you so rich?
