| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Welcome to ABXZone gizmodude4 Seems you have a good idea what to check for already. The only thing I could add is make sure the 2x2pin CPU and 1x4pin VGA power plugs are plugged into the mobo and the 24pin is seated good. You should have a green LED lit at the bottom of the mobo also. Make sure you are plugged into the correct DVI out on the video card. Can you see a post screen at all? If so go in and hit F9 to reset the BIOS. If you don't see anything on the monitor and you know the power supply and video card is good, check to make sure the BIOS jumper is on pins 2&3 correctly. It will try to do a BIOS recovery without the jumper. If all these things check out I would suspect the mobo and call Intel tech. support. Their 1-800 number is available on the website. Good luck and keep us posted. Sandog |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) I received my Antec Signature 650 power supply. Highest quality imaginable. So far I've modified one of the extra cables to make it shorter. I haven't installed it yet because I am waiting on a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heat sink and have to pull the board out. I have been itching to try this heat sink for over a year. Even talked a friend into getting one. I did some checks to see if it will fit sideways and it should. I almost got a Nexxus fan that would do 500-2000rpm but without IDCC it will probably only run around 800rpm. Instead of relying on IDCC I opted for the Japenese made Thermalright fan. Thermalright has 4 120mm fans available at fixed speeds - 1000/1300/1600/2000rpm. I purchased the 1300rpm model which is the fastest inaudible fan from Thermalright IMO (around 24db). I got two day shipping on the HSF in hopes I can put this together during the weekend. If the Thermalright fits good I should be happy with the performance. I expect around the same idle temps but I anticipate at least a 5C lower load temp. After these two part installs, my final upgrade will be getting a 55nm EVGA SC 260 216 video card. Pics to follow. |

Also, are you sure the Thermalright Ultra is going to fit on the board? As you noted earlier, there seems to be a tad less space than normal between the CPU and the backplane. Just in case anyone's interested, here's a review of the TRUE: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme: Heir to the CPU Cooling Throne | silentpcreview.com I've got a TRUE on another computer here and it's a fine heatsink (my only problem with it is endemic to all Thermalright heatsinks: they won't accept closed-shoulder fans with their standard attachment wires -- though since you got a Thermalright fan, I assume it will be open-shoulder). I'm using a Thermalright HR-01 Plus with this board (using an E8400 (non-overclocked)) and it keeps the CPU very cool with the fans run inaudibly: 36 degrees C at idle, 56 degrees C under Prime95. Here's a picture of HWMonitor with Prime95 running (note the fan speeds): ![]() And, here's a link to a review of the HR-01 Plus: Thermalright HR-01 Plus: 2nd Gen Killer Tower Cooler | silentpcreview.com

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) My power supply goes on the bottom of my Antec 300. It is easy to take in/out but this new PS is longer, 7.1" to be exact. Because of heat pipes the mounting bracket only goes on one way on the TRUE but I checked the mounting hole specs on the LGA775 and they are all 72mm apart from one another. Therefore I should be able to turn the TRUE 90deg. With a fan, the TRUE is 3.5" x 5" looking down and should fit. It also appears tall enough to miss my board components and RAM. I know the TRUE will not fit with the fan facing toward the rear case fan. I have a 140mm top case fan which is not recessed and comes even to the mobo edge plus the DP45SG CPU socket is closer to the top of the board than usual. I want the TRUE facing the top fan anyway for better exhaust flow. I actually get superb CPU temps now with my LGA775 heatsink (33C-58C on 3.0GHz quad) but I want the load temp down more if possible. Also I am getting an annoying wining sound from my current CPU fan. Edit: More info.: I am hoping the TRUE fits but I am not positive, I tried to find somebody else using this HS on this board but couldn't. I am using a Thermalright fan holder so it should take any type of 120x25mm fan. Hopefully the fan holder pops off easily for fast cleaning. Also, I am not a big fan of horizontal coolers because they do not help out the mobo much but the DP45SG is a cool running board with low mobo temps already. On the PS, this should be the last PS I will ever need. I planned on getting it to run my quad and a GTX 280. I like it because it has switching regulators (clean) and it has better efficiency plus it is Antec. I really like the DP45SG and I am going to go with the best components. | Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) The proper pins (2&3) are the pins closest to the DIMM's. Pins 1&2 are closest to the SATA connectors. To properly run the board the jumper has to be on pins 2&3. Try this one time. Pull the power cord and the CMOS battery out. Place the BIOS jumper on pins 1&2. This will make the board enter BIOS automatically. Wait for 15min then place the CMOS battery back in and connect the power cord. Start your engine and see what happens. It should enter BIOS. If not, are you hearing any beeps? If you are hearing 3 beeps its a memory issue. Good luck. |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Has anyone tried the Thermaltake CL-P0114 (Big Typhoon) with this board? From looking at the pictures I can't tell if it is going to clear the Northbridge heatsink. |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) The Thermaltake CL-P0114 should work without any problems. There really aren't any high components around the CPU socket on this board except for the NB HS. The Thermaltake CL-P0114 heat pipes run parallel to the NB so you are fine. |

Hey, I also had similar issues when setting up my PC. Try what Sandog recommends and also ensure you have your internal PC speaker connected correctly. I know it sounds weird but that little thing caused me lots of grief. Goodluck...Cheers

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) I'm having similiar problems with my current build project .. board shows power via LED, bit won't boot or POST.. I've triple checked the connections and tried two power supplies ( Corsair HX520W and a Generic 500 watt) .. they behave slightly differently, but no joy ..system is DP45SG board , Corsair XMS 3 1300 DDR3 2 2 gig sticks, MSI Radeon 4670 512M video card , sony Bw300 blu-ray burner, and WD Velociraptor 320 G hard drive.. I'm gonna try a new board tomorrow, and I have another Q6600 processor laying around ..I 've tried the battery removal trick , so I'm guessing the board is hosed ..any other thoughts would be appreciated .. |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Hi I was wondering if I needed a floppy drive to setup Xp pro on this board. I am new to builds and saw that a floppy disc was included so I wasn't sure if it was mandatory to the setup. If I have to use I'm just going to buy an external hard drive.

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) If you want to load the AHCI or raid drivers with XP you will need a USB floppy or some other work around, like slipstreaming Windows, to load the drivers. Last edited by riffer; 12-13-2008 at 09:27 AM.. Reason: spelling |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) What riffer said. But, to clarify, if you just want to load up the standard IDE drivers, you don't need anything but the XP install CD. |

| Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg) Greetings, I have a brand new install and am running into 2 issues. Details of what I'm running are in my profile, but in short - DP45SG - BIOS 0083, Core2Duo, Xigmatek HDT S1283. First - the BIOS update will not work for me. I have tried the Express update - similar results to others here - system reboots and sits at a black screen forever, and erroneously reports a successful update in Vista on reboot. I also tried the ISO image update - system will not boot from my CD, and I tried the Recovery update method w/USB drive described by Sandog on pg. 27 here - I get an occasional flashing LED on the USB drive, but after waiting 30 minutes, nothing happens. Second issue - the BIOS system monitor reports that the CPU temp is 111-115 Celsius, but CPUID Hardware Monitor reports 34c in both cores. The hottest it has appeared to be here was 35c. What little can be reached on the edges of the 775 socket and the base of the heatsink are all relatively cool to the touch - maybe just a little warmer than ambient temperature. I'm thinking (hoping) that the 111c+ is a reporting anomaly of some sort, and was told (hopefully correctly) that the system wouldn't even boot if it were that hot. Help! And thanks in advance for any advice, and in arrears for so much info already posted ![]() Update - after 15 minutes of stress testing the CPU, HWMonitor reports the cores at 43c. After 30 minutes, temps were hovering around 44-45c. Last edited by jspitz; 12-13-2008 at 01:01 PM.. Reason: update |

Welcome to ABXZone! My first BIOS update worked but I think it was because I formatted my USB thumb drive at work on XP. Last time I update (ver. 0102) my USB thumb drive would not work when copied the BIOS file from within Vista64. My recommendation (as is Intels) is to make your thumb drive bootable. Try using these files to make a thumb drive bootable. Looks like the temp. reading in BIOS is displayed wrong. You should update to 093 at least and that may fix your temp. problem.
