All,

I found one of the problems. I used Crucial.com's auto selector tool for picking my RAM, apparently, it allowed me to select Crucial part "BL2KIT12864BA1336.000". It is DDR3-1333 6-6-6-20 1.8V (CL6). Unfortunately, the board doesn't support this memory, so I'm returning it to Crucial. They're sending me DDR3 1333 CL9 9-9-9-24 1.5V, so we'll see how stable it is after I receive the replacement memory.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

I contacted Intel about the lack of C1E in the BIOS. They've confirmed it. Here's the core of their response:

Quote:
After duplicating the issue in our systems, we need to inform you that the Intel(R) Desktop Board DP45SG doesn't have an option in the BIOS to enable this feature yet.

Our recommendation is enabling the Enhanced Intel(R) SpeedStep(R) Technology (EIST) in the BIOS since this feature also has power saving schemes like the Enhanced Halt State (C1E).

RE: the IDCC.
Several guys from the same forum sent me mail about this and I apologize for the frustration. I'm actively working to get this problem solved, but I think it'll take at least until the end of January. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted out.

Well if the last BIOS release wasn't evidence enough of work in progress I was glad to get the above from Intel.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

It's no IDCC, but the latest IDU beta from Intel appears to work with the DP45SG, although they don't list it directly as a compatible model. hxxp://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=17223 (sorry, I can't post links yet)

Good for monitoring temps and getting SMART info, etc.

Running Windows Vista Ultimate /w SP1 and all current patches through auto-update
Q8200 Quad 2.33
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (Model: F3-10666CL9D-4GBNQ) (I am running the RAM at SPD - no OCing anything til we are 5 more bios's in the way things are looking)
ASUS Dark Knight 4870 1Gig Video Card
Antec Tru Power 650W
Bios settings are pretty much auto/default across the board, bar the boot menu (since I am using a PCI SATA controller since I needed 1 more port).

That's the real meat and potatoes, let me know if you need anything more specific.

Sleep is working fine, but I have not tried Hibernate since I never use it.

That's what I have (CT2KIT25664BA1339), and you should have no problems.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

I am thinking of trying out Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and wondered if anyone was having problems with it (other than no 64 bit Dolby software).

edit - If it is running okay, please comment as well.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Dear friends,

i need help!

my pc config:

mobo:dp45sg
processor:core 2 quad q9550 2.83ghz
graphics:xfx geforce 9600 gt
power:600watt cooler master (sli ready)

ram:transcend ddr3 / 1333mhz / (9-9-9) 2GB+2GB(total 4gb)

all 3d games crashes with start, checked all cables, updated graphics drivers, updated chipset, bios,xp updates-nothing helped me still crashing,,no problm found with wathching dvds, touching photos, encoding large files but only problem is graphics.

i checked xfx geforce 9600 gt with my old pc ,it is running fine there.no problem with hard disks all running fine.crashes continues in both xp sp3 32bit and vista sp1 ultimate 32 bit.

i asked intel support, they replayed that it should be ram that creating problems, they also said that to check with different ram.

please tell me whether transcend ddr3 1333mhz is creating problems,or any thing else creating this error.

i have 10years exp in computing but cant solve the problem, somebody plzz help me.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)

Did you manually set the RAM timings or let the board auto-detect?

If it is 1.5V, it should be.

I would suggest running one of the memory testing programs like memtest. If it is okay, I would consider the video card. See if you can try another one in the DP45SG.

Yep, that's exactly what I eventually did, and yes, it worked. Thanks

Ah, always wondered why that first temp used to be negative.

On a different note, is there any email notification one can subscribe to at intel for BIOS updates?

The only other thing I was interested in was CL7 memory but I am done buying memory. I will keep my CL9 and continue to enjoy running it at 1.5V. Since I am almost done with hardware I am looking at software. Going to get some cool games and an AV package. I am trying out MS Windows Live OneCare ATM (free 90-day trial). Anybody have a preference for a good anti-virii program?
I'm not sure Windows Live OneCare is the way forward. I was on their perpetual beta list for a long time and found the program extremely buggy, unreliable and needlessly slow.

Your best bet would be NOD32. It's skimpy on resource hogging and you hardly ever have to make any setting changes. It even has a built-in firewall.

I've also heard rave reviews of Norton Internet Security 2009, but I haven't used it myself yet.

Good luck.

Got a response as well:

Hi,

Engineering is still working on getting the BIOS and related pieces of the software stack working together. I'm hoping we can see a beta version by the end of January, but there's official release date yet.
