| LPT1 Problem - CUSL2C - ... Help... My LPT1 is sending only garbage characters to my printer. The printer is not at cause because I tried it on other pcs. Most of the time, the printer spit out 2 character, 1 upward arrow and a "play" (triangle) sign. I formatted and reinstalled but it still does the same thing. I just hope I won't have to turn in at the reseller and ask for an exchange, because I did just a few month ago when the board didn't want to recognise my keyboard and just went beeping. Please help.

| Not enough info here... What make/model Printer? What OS on your CUSL2-C? Were the "other computers" you mentioned using the same OS (incl version), Printer Driver, and printer cable? How long is your printer cable (it can make a difference!)? Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the printer? Have you tried any other parallel port devices? Have you installed any other hardware/software recently? Have you checked for resource/device conflicts? I know this seems like a lot of questions. Give us a bit more information about your setup and details about how the problem came up. Try to answer as many of the above questions as you can. We'll try to help you work through this... FWIW I had some intermittent communication problems with my old HP printer when I built my CUSL2-C. Turned out the latest driver from HP support (downloaded from the web) solved my problem. Not saying this is your prob. In general, though, scrambled printer output is usually tracable to a bad driver, improper configuration/setup, and sometimes using too long a printer cable (especially with older printers) or a cable that's not fully seated or has worn/dirty contacts (old cable). Just my $0.02 .....

| Printer: HP Deskjet 1120C OS: Win2k Other computers OS: Win98 + Win Millenium I have tried reinstalling the printer several times, and as I mentioned, I even formatted. I have also changed cable. It's been working fine under win2k, just one day, it went bezerk just like that...

| Only a few things to try: 1. Go to HP support website. Download latest version win2k driver for your printer. Here's a link: driver rev 11.8, 04/08/00 Install driver and test. You haven't said whether you've done this: worth a shot. 2. Install another printer on this PC if possible, and see if it works correctly. Pretty much any parallel port device can be used for this test. 3. Check MS and HP knowledge bases: longshot, but you might find something. If these don't get you results, I suppose you're going to have to do another RMA.
