| Memory on 815 boards I thought someone said in a previous post that 815 chipsets have a problem with most 256mb dimms. Could someone verify this please? |

| hi bookem, i use 2 x 256Mb here, and have never had any major probs... you might be thinkin of how picky this board can be about memory..i know that's been pointed out a lot. most ppl have better luck with quality RAM, as opposed to eneric stuph. both my 256ers are genereic CAS3 pc133 and they werk..so i guess i got lucky hth cryogen

| bookem, Quality RAM helps but 256MB sticks work fine. The 815 chipset limitations are: 512MB memory max, only 4 banks of memory are supported at 133MHZ FSB (That would be two double sided DIMMS), at 100MHZ FSB you can use up to 6 banks of memory. (Morning cryogen!)

| Can I use a single stick of 512 Mb ram on the CUSL2-C? I tried and POST shows only 256 Mb. Where's the other half? No problem with my 2 X 128 Micron sticks. Any advice? |

| The 815E Chipset doesn't support 512 MB sticks so it thinks your stick is a single sided 512..

| I just purchased another double banked pc133 256mb ram module brand "Apacer" with infineon modules on it, to go with my single bank 128mb pc133 infineon, and my double banked 128mb pc133 "century" with hitachi modules. total 512mb @pc133@140mhz@cas2 but with a total of 5 banks? and the cusl2-c bios 1007 says the mem is running at pc133@140mhz@cas2 plus all my bench mark progs didn't drop ie. 3dmark2????+sandra2001 mem score so it must be so! but i thought only 4 banks@133fsb and 100fsb with 5 or 6banks,is there something i'm missing?? | Re: 4 banks only?? OK SO EXPALIN THIS THEN!!! I have 512MB RAM (1-256, 2-128) AND MY PC RANDOMLY LOCKS UP IN UT!! now.......... i am VERY familiar with the single/double sided issue, and before i had 512, i had 384mb with 3 SINGLE sided dimms. (btw, this is crucial ram, i've always used crucial) and i've had no problems with these 3 dimms!! so thats 384mb with 3 sides total. right? ok so a few days ago i bought a 256mb dimm from crucial, and apparently, they said they only carry double sided 256mb dimms (so i figured, ok, ONE double sided 256mb, and TWO, single sided 128mb, makes a total of 512mb with 4 sides......this should be ok!!!) so i bought it. when i intalled it the other day. EVERYTHING IS FINE in windows. but as soon as i get in ut.....my pc freezes!! from either a few seconds in the game to maybe an hour, but eventually it freezes. WHAT IS THE DEAL?!?!?!? I HAVE ONLY 4 SIDES!!! .....also someone told me that i should get another 256mb dimm so i have two, 256mb dimms instead of what i have now, but that doesnt make any sence cuz 2-256mb is also four sides!!...... someone enlighten me! |
