Unhappy Re: Is my P5B-D Dead? Help

Update:

I replaced the Surge suppressor and UPS (APC 550) on Nov. 23 and the P4P800D has been running fine ever since.

I received the new PSU from Mushkin today (warranty), put it in the P5B-D and I get the same exact symptoms as before. Lights, fans, no post.

I have new the new RAM and CPU for my daughter's new PC. I guess I'll try those (in that order) in the P5B-D, to troubleshoot.
If the RAM and CPU are OK and I have to replace the MB, I am considering one of these two:
Newegg.com - ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
or
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Opinions?

Re: Is my P5B-D Dead? Help

I'm not sure that putting all the appliances on one surge suppressor and using one outlet on the UPS is a good thing. You might be overwhelming the one outlet. (Perhaps one of the electrical experts could tell us.) I'm assuming that you totaled all your wattage from the PCs and monitors, etc. and you're still under the limit of the UPS.

Glad to see that you moved up to an APC unit. I've had mine for at least 5 years without any problems at all.

I know what you mean. I have never been very comfortable with everything on the same outlet, but so far nothing has melted and the UPS overload alarm has not sounded, so I guess I'm OK.

Re: Is my P5B-D Dead? Help

UPDATE: GOOD NEWS!!!

I took out all 4 sticks of Ballistix RAM and tried 2 of the Corsair PC6400 I got for my daughter's new PC. It posted!!!

Then, by process of elimination, I determined that I have 2 bad sticks of Ballistix RAM. It will not post with either stick. The other 2 are fine. Weird.

I am very happy. No need to build a new PC for me. I am posting this from the P5B-D.

It's been a long, strange couple of weeks, but I am a very happy camper right now. I got my PC back!

Big thanks to everyone that has helped out on this and my P4P800D thread!
