Awesome! thank you and welcome back - x64 guide would be very much appreciated, I'll help out any way I can after recent experience...also why not consider a thread about your experiences with cell phone modding? Sounds very interesting!

Welcome back! Will be very interested in your updates as I've always felt that your installation guides were The Benchmark and of great use to anyone contemplating installing a new OS. Always good to see familiar faces return!

With the Asus P5E3 Premium motherboard I am intending to load XP Pro.
The drives I will be connecting are as follows:-
2 - SATA-II VelociRaptors 300GB each
2 - Western Digital SATA-II 640GB each
1 - Blu-Ray Rewriter + DVD/CD etc. SATA-II
2 - IDE DVD Rewriters
1 - Floppy + 10 card multi reader/writer

The question is-

How can I get the Bios and XP operating system to see the drives in the following sequence before and during the setup of the Bios and installation of the XP Pro operating system?
1st VelociRaptor (SATA) as Drive C and bootable
2nd Velociraptor (SATA as Drive D
the 2 Western Digital SATA drives as Drive E and Drive F
the Blu-Ray Rewriter (SATA) as Drive G
the primary IDE DVD Rewriter as Drive H and bootable (Needed for XP Install)
the slave IDE DVD rewriter as Drive I
the Floppy as Drive A
the other multi reader/writers as drives J and above

Kind Regards

Richard
I usually have 4 hard drives on most of my installs followed by any optical drives. I want the hard drives to be C, D, E, and F which XP won't let you do. So, what I do is install XP with just one hard drive and an optical installed. Then when XP is installed I go into control panel and uninstall the optical drive, shut the PC down and physically disconnect the drive. That frees up drive letter D. Then I just add the drives one by one so they get the letters I want them to have. I think that will work for what you want to do.

Re: Operating System / Software Installation Guide

If I'm not mistaken you can assign the drive letters using Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management

Re: Operating System / Software Installation Guide

It has been long time since i visit here. The system has been running good since first build in 2003, accept it feels like a lot slower than before. It's time to format and reinstall XP pro again.
Does anyone here recently format the system?
I'm trying to keep my raid 0 running. Could someone here please let me know where i can find raid driver for my motherboard?
thanks,

thanks,
Go to the ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- page and search for your motherboard. The RAID drivers should show up under IDE.

Long time since I visited this thread too. Glad to know it is still alive...
