| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG phew! just read all 9 pages so i am up to par with the info you guys have im pretty new at overclocking.i have Q9300(2.5ghz)+dp45sg+g.skill 1333 9-9-9-24 I did what you guys did, left everything at default and just changed the Host frequency from 333 -> 400, My multiplier is 7.5 and i can't raise that. However that didn't work so I assume i have to lower my memory so i changed 1333->1066 and it work! (boots up). My cpuz ratio is now 5:8 at 640 Mhz. what is my next step? tuning the memory?? thank you!! ![]() |

| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG ok, the first step is to take your host clock as high as it can go. Why don't you bump up your host clock frequency to 413MHz. That will take you to 3.1GHz. See if it runs stable. Run 3 iterations of LinPak. If you don't get any residuals, it's safe to try a higher frequency. If 3.1GHz is stable, try 3.2GHz, then 3.3GHz, then 3.4GHz. Don't touch your memory settings in the meantime. Tell us how it goes.

| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG I just had a look at your temps, and they are a bit worrying. At idle your processor is running very hot. You must be using stock cooling? Run LinPack for 3 iterations and keep SIW running so that you can see the maximum temp achieved. If you go above 80, I wouldn't overclock any further. You can't safely overclock on stock cooling.

| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG yes, i am using stock right now my cooler master v8 should arrive tomorrow I guess I will wait untill i do any further tests for now You said to not touch the memory part but if i dont change from 1333-> 1066 nothing seems to work, I've tried to raise the volt for memory, cpu and fsb and nothing seems to work. My friend overclocked his Q9300 to 3.5 so im sure i can do it but i think its just this motherboard

The memory settings on this board are tricky. I'd advise you to play around with them and just use whatever works for you. Don't fiddle around with them too much until Intel comes out with a more stable BIOS and IDCC. Yes, 3.5 should be your goal really. I can take my 2.4GHz Q6600 to 3.0GHz very easily, so you should be able to go much higher. But the fact that you have a x7.5 multiplier, doesn't help. The lower the multiplier, the faster your FSB has to run, and the better RAM you need. The Q6600 has a multiplier of 9. Your CPU score is astounding. I think I recently saw a Core i7 with 21,000. Yours is ridiculously high. What was it before you overclocked?

| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG Yeah his CPU score is much higher than the Core i7, that is very very odd considering the Q9300 is much older than the Core i7

| Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG :S it is 35000 at default settings, ill try testing again. by the way, one quick question produse.chip.ro/media/catalog/product//f/i/file_42_237.jpg ok the little power slot above the blue pci slot, do i HAVE to plug that in? it would make my wiring life much easier and im running my computer fine without it right now. thank you!~
