You only need it if your graphics card requires more than 75W.

Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG

182W is the worst case scenario for the GTX 260.

And yeah, Intel Desktop Control Center (IDCC). Long overdue with promises of a compatible BIOS and IDCC out by the end of the month. Let's see.

Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG

Ok just checked this board..
Apparently I might not need to connect that molex to the 4 pin connector on the skyburg...
Well I doubt a geforce 9500 GT needs more than 75 W

Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG

If and when Intel releases DCC for this motherboard, that's going to mean I'm going to have to use a better cooler than the stock intel fan I've got on it now? I still could do a 3 ghz overclock now without too much trouble? I also hope they do a bios that will let me overclock to as close to 4 ghz as possible.

Doubtful.

Run SIW and note your max temperature achieved when you run Intel's LinkPak benchmark.

Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG

Yeah. Most definitely.

Go for this one:

ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme processor heat sink

Sandog and I use it to great advantage.

I've heard this heatsink is a little heavy, and can this be installed with the motherboard already in the case? You got a pic of it installed(forgive me if I forget you posted pics)

Re: OVERCLOCKING the Intel DP45SG

Well if you don't want to use the Thermalright, why not use this 1 :

Thermatake BigTyp 120 VX CPU FAN

I use it to maximum advantage, plus it ain't heavy at all, very light weight

Most good heatsinks will require you to take the motherboard off. This is to attach an additional support backplane to spread the pressure of massive heatsinks. The 120 is 777g so that is quite heavy, but let that not deter you. Just remember to replace all the motherboard screws otherwise you might get uneven pressure points on the board resulting in potential cracks and subsequent failure.
