Sierra Bound,

Thanks for the response.

Yes I did up the Vdimm on it, and made no difference. However I did do a little memory checking. I tried some Corsair TWINX XMS3200LLPT (256AX2)timing is @ 2-2-2-5 and my old Corsair 1GB (512MBx2) TWINX512-32000LLPro, memory. Tried the test with 1 stick of each memory or both sticks. Still shows bad memory errors.

Now I’m wondering if it’s the motherboard or even possibly the Bios version 1014????

Have any thoughts on this one?

Not to insult your intelect, but did you disable Legacy USB? I had that problem before. Then someone on this forum told me to disable USB legacy in the BIOS and it worked. If you have already. then i'm out if ideas

Good Luck

Nefarious is right about disabling USB Legacy Support in the bios when using Memtest. I doubt the bios is the problem. Have you also run Prime95?

In addition to Memtest and Microsoft's memory tester, there's another program called GoldMemory. Some say it's as good if not better than Memtest. I use it on my A64 board. The latest version of GoldMemory costs money. But there's a 30-day trial evaluation version (5.07) that you can also download.

Hey! Everyone,

Sorry for the late response. Thanks for your assistance I had not thought of the USB Legacy. I did set it to disable. However that made no difference. Thanks for the ideas. I tested with the Goldmemtester, v5.07. I am assuming that is pasted? not sure though.

I have another system I tested the memory with. System setup as follow: By the way this one is overclocked to 2800+, & memory at 222Mhz Mushkin memory pasted with flying colors.
ASUS A7N8X Rev 1.06 (Bios 1007.001) Beta

Wonder if anyone else has my memory & mobo? and the memtester's are passing.

Thanks for your assistance it is very much appreciate.

Well, Guys

For me.........I have bad news....................................................................................

I installed my new P4C800-E Deluxe Ver. 2.0 motherboard today. Guess what????? go ahead and guess.

I have memory test fails..............%$^^#@

When I was installing the new motherboard, I did notice one thing. I have a,, what I call, a 3 - Raid-0 setups. 2 WD Raptor 36.7GB on the Intel SATA1&SATA2 connection . And 2 WD Raptor 36.7GB on the Promise SATA Raid1&SATA RAID2 connections, and last but not least 2 WD 40.0GB on the PATA IDE connections.

When I do a memtest. Weather its with the SATA Promise connection and/or the IDE Promise connections hooked up. I get memory errors. As long as I have just the Intel SATA connection hooked up, Memory kicks major butt........................in the test. Why is this??

Has anyone else experience this???????????????????? Please Help

Question

Well Guys,

Not sure if anyone is interested But here it go’s.

I wrote to ASUS about the memory errors that I get with my system, i.e. Windows memtester, Memtester86+ ver 1.00 and Goldmen ver 5.07, to see if they have any idea’s. In the mean time I did some testing of my own. Like I said in my other chat. I installed a new ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard ver. 2.0 from a ver. 1.2. Thinking this might be the problem. "Nope wrong."

I think I found the culprit, Promise Fastrak 378 Bios 1.00.0.37. I tested some other hard drives, i.e Maxtor 20GB drives and hooked them up to SATA Raid 1 and SATA Raid 2 and the Primary IDE Raid. When the hard drives are used as single drives. There's NO errors, as soon as you make them RAID walah!! Errors are back.

Thinking this is a bios Fasttrak update problem?. How about you???

I don’t know which version the Bios is, that sets back the Fasttrak bios by one version. I tried bios ver 1011 it still has ver 1.00.0.37 for the Fasttrak. Not only that this motherboard came with Bios 1014, that has bios Fasttrak 1.00.0.37

Has any one else experienced this issue?? Or have their hard drives setup this way???

Maybe their going to have a new bios out soon with a fix? Don’t know

* Spread spectrums keeps changing youre frequncies for mem (i think it was) to prevent overhearing via EMI.
This is sometimes used to prevent tapping in and listening to your data via the EMI noise (as if you are some kind´a agent needing to hide youre info from the nieghbour then you MIGHT need it enabled )
When overclocking - DEFENITELY DIABLED. I managed to get a more stable system disabling it.

Also ALWAYS disable the USB legacy support - i didnt get memtest runing last test (99%) even at stock 200 FSB with this crap on. And after a tip of someone on this forume (pointreys i think it was) i truned it of and tada.wav

Now I got a stable quiet box running my 2.6C at 3.44 GHz at 263 MHz FSB with a temp of 43 centigrade at torture test with prime 95 (2.7V Vcore).
Turbo and PAM enabled.
The two 120 mm fans in the sonata box together with the Zalman 7000Cu keeps the box hush and cool with air

Now i just need a better cooler for the northbridge - some cppu fan kit maybe? - move the nortbridge cooler to the soutbridge with epoxy thermal paste and then cool some of the DAMN HOT components in the box (some of the three legged transistors are burning and need to be cooled - hope this will help in OC even more - also a few chips in there are steaming and need some small cooler fins on em i believe)

Very happy to have found this forum with all thees great tips and I hope that I will be able to contribute in the near future.

Will keep you posted with my progress

about promkise raid0 issues

I have:
1. raid 0 on the promise (DUAL WD raptor 74 Gb SATA)
2. SATA single on ICH5R (WD caviar 250GB SATA)
3. IDE DVD Plextor PX-708A
4. floppy on floppy controller

No problems with memorys - but cant go higher than 263 on FSB for stable CPU (266 and it starts wacking out after a few hours in prime 95).

Have been thinking of moving raid0 to ICH5R after all the sayings on the forum about it being faster and utilizing less CPU recources and maybe then i can go even higher on fsb - who knows

Anyway - have no used any IDE disks so that might be the problem? Also reading about using P-ATA and S-ATA together (i guess u have set the bios to S-ATA + P-ATA for this) could be tricky I have heard - but it shall work but dont ask me how
read some here about master / slave settings:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/comp...ic/7918-1.html

As far as it goes for the fast trak bios i believed it had its own separate bios and I have been searching for it on their site but there seems to be no support directly from them on embedde controllers - they just refer to the mobo manufacturer so I guess it is somehow integrated in the package from asus after all
http://www.promise.com/support/downl...wnload_eng.asp

It would be really great to be able to update the promise separately - as well as the ICH5R but I guess one is stuck with the Asus updates there - and maybe its for the best considering comapbility issues with the MoBo

Regards

Yes, it's fairly quiet and it will fit next to the Zalman HSF. You will have to slightly bend a couple of the Zalman fins to one side, but it's no big deal. Several ABX members are using the Swiftech/Zalman combo.

Have you tried raising the Vcore just a notch ?
And your current memory is probably holding you back too.

You could also try using some of "my" bios settings.
I think you mean 120mm fans because 120cm is probably bigger than a little kid

Maybe that's why it's so cool.
