So, so Scoundrel. You have taken the same road as I have.

I have had the P4T533-C ever since it first came out, and just this month I retired it with the IC7. We both agree that the P4T533-C was one of the best motherboards of all time!!!!

The IC7 has been running now for a month with no major problems at all. Let's hope the IC7 will be as successful as the P4T533-C. It sure seems like it so far.

I have to agree, the P4T533-C will join the "Great Boards" of 2002!
The three we have are stable, trouble-free and fast.

However, even though 865/875 memory speeds are tempting, I think we are
going to skip this cycle and wait 'till next generation or next revs of
current 875's. Maybe SATA 10k drives will have larger capacities by then..

Who would have thought FSB would get to 800mhz and memory bandwidth to
4.5GB/sec at "home user" prices!!

this P4T533-C board has been voted the best motherboard by MaximumPC over and over, well at least until 875 hits them

Meaning:

- why get a 3.06G/533 HT for an 850E now?
- 846/875 800FSB MB + 2.4~3.0G/800 HT makes better sense, eh?

Example: (upgrading from 850E MB to get HT)

IC7 + 2.4G/800 + 512m PC3500 = about $480 USD
- fast memory bandwidth (4.2GB/sec)
- HT
- SATA

P4T533-C
- add 3.06/533 to get HT = $400 USD
- slower 850 RDRAM memory bandwidth (3.4GB/sec)
- no SATA

If you read the actual benchmark numbers, the "increase" in memory bandwidth does absolutely nothing to anything. sometimes pc-1066 wins by 1 second in rendering over the 800mhz boards or it is behind by only a second. why did you upgrade now when the prices are high? sure we will need to upgrade to a 800mhz motherboard but why now? the next rdram chipset will be out later from SiS with 9 gig/sec bandwidth to blow ddr away yet again using only pc-1200 sticks which pc-1066 will probably work that fast anyway as a lot of users have overclocked to pc-1200 speeds (150mhz x4 FSB)

- no SATA. but do you have an SATA drive? ATA-133 drives are still being made and the 133 to 150mbit jump isn't that big. not until faster SATA chips are out, and by then your i875 board is obsolete!

buying a 3.06ghz to replace my 2.0a in my p4t533-c is a viable option for me instead of an entire new mobo/ram/cpu set. and it only costs about $350 or less now for the 3.06ghz so get your numbers straight.

back to the topic:
I can't tell anything different in the 1011 beta 4 bios. They really need to add in a comment for the changes.

anyone know (or have any ideas) on flashing my p4te to this new p4t533-c bios? im currently running an older beta of the p4t-533c bios right now but ive always been too scared to try and flash it to a newer beta version lol (there have been lots of old threads about why to not flash BACK to the p4t-e bios but i still havent seen anything about trying to flash to a different p4t533-c bios)

, I've had this board for more than a year now (thats a personal record for my gaming rig)

I really hope that it will live up to the stability and troublefree P4t533-C board that i'm used to.
Actually i'm looking forward to using a ABIT board again, havent used one since the legendary ABIT BE6-II v2.0.

But I think you did the right thing by ordering the IC7 (-G) instead.

I ordered the IC7 (non G version) because i dont need more than two harddisks and two optical drives in this rig, (though the IC7 will take 6 drives if I should ever need it) and I really dont need Gigabit LAN right now, gigabit switches are too expensive right now, and probably will be for the next year or so. I spent the money I saved on the board IC7 vs IC7-G on Corsair XMS 3500 instead of Kingston HX3500 . And I feel pretty good about that decission
