| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Dan -- You'll want to read the X-Bit Labs review of a dozen or so high-end i7 coolers, for which I just put up a link on the home page and in the news forum. Be prepared for a bit of disappointment, though. But also note on page 16 of the review some interesting comments about flatness, cooler orientation, etc. Regards, -- Al

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Thanks ctal, a good review on air coolers. The part that interest me was on page 16. About the flatness of the i7 heatspreader. ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** *update* Monsoon III LT came in today, ran everything at default settings for an hour after installing the HS Fan (pain in the astrics to install ) required the main board to be removed due to the backing plate mounting on the underside of the motherboard temps are much better 51, 47, 50, 49 after 1 hour of 100% load prime 95 at bios default settings ![]() now I get to play some ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Hi sir Skully ![]() Yes, I'm playing with it now, used your template from a few pages back just to see where my temps would go for that oc. so far 100% prime 95 load for 30 minutes current temps are 62, 60, 55, 61 only thing different I did from your templet to my actual oc was I set the cpu voltage to 1.2 in turbo v having a little issue tho. even at default settings core #3 stops work after about 10 minutes while the rest continue on. useing the Torture Test (Blended) any thoughts? Edit - Notice core #3 is at 55 while the rest of the cores are on average 5c higher?

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Hey EXC...... ![]() Maybe stuck heat sensor, Real Temp has a heat sensor test that you can run.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Thanks Skully I have real temp 3.0, that's where I was getting my temps from. made a few voltage changes in TurboV, seems multiple cores are not likeing the oc yet. I'll have to play around in the bios some more but I don;t think it's temp related. temps never went over 62c full load.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** had to make a few changes in the bios to make the errors go away that I was getting in Prime 95, it was definately memory related. I'm holding the memory back on the overclock for now. ![]() here are the settings I made that go with the above pics AI overclock - manual OC from CPU level up - auto OC from Memory level up - auto CPU Ratio setting - 21 CPU Turbo power Limit - enable CPU configuration CPU Ratio Setting - 21 C1E Support - disable Hardware prefetcher - enable Adjacent Cache line prefetcher - enable Intel Virtualization tech - disabled CPU TM Function - disable Execute Disabled bit - enable Intel HT Technology - disable Active Processor Cores - all A20M - disabled Intel Speedstep tech - disable Intel Turbo Mode tech - disabled Intel C-STATE tech - disabled BCLK frequency - 175 PCIE frequency - 100 DRAM frequency - DDR3 1403mhz UCLK frequency - 2807 QPI frequency - auto Dram timing control 1st iformation - 8,8,8,24 per my memory specs - rest at auto 2nd information - auto 3rd information - auto EPU II phase control - full phase Load-line calibration - auto CPU differential amplitude - auto Extreme OV - disabled Current voltage Cpu voltage - 1.19375 CPU PLL voltage - 1.81 QPI-Dram voltage - 1.3 Current voltage IOH voltage - 1.11 IOH PCIE voltage - 1.51 ICH voltage- 1.11 ICH PCIE voltage - 1.51 Current voltage DRAM Bus voltage - 1.65 DRAM REF voltage - all set to 0.mV Debug mode - string Keyboard TeakIt comtrol - disabled CPU spread spectrum - disabled PCIE spectrum - disabled CPU clock skew - auto IOH clock skew - auto Now testing at CPU Ratio setting - 21 BCLK frequency - 181 Cpu voltage - 1.2 DRAM frequency & UCLK frequency changed slightly but kept them very close to above until I find my cpu limit or temps that raise the hair on the back of my neck ![]() Most of all, I would like to thank Sir Skully and Dan-Baer for all thier help, it has been very much appreciated ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** here's the system at 3.8gig, temps are starting to get back up there again might seriously consider water cooling if the temps don't come down after the AS-5 settles in. I know I only let prime 95 run for a tad over 49 minutes but I think this cpu has more in it, cpu core voltage is only 2.5 here, I know there's headroom for more if it wasn't for the temps ![]() ![]() ![]() anyway I guess I'll let it run at these settings for the rest of the morning and while I'm at work tomorrow, be a good burn-in session ![]() ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** I was running 21x 180 for a while (about 2 days). I needed a Vcore of 1.3v. As per my Sig, I need a Vcore of 1.25 for 3.6 Ghz. Maybe if I adjusted some of the other voltages I could run with a lower Vcore? All but DRAM v, is at Auto. I want to stick with the 20x and I am happy at 3.6. But, if I could lower the CPU v that would be great. What do you think?
