Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

ctal, thanks for the link. I am not that impressed by the 9900 so I have no beef with the review. The one I have now is running well enough but not that special but the first one was not much better than the Intel stock pos.
For now I am running cool enough and I am now tweaking. I will be away for a few days but when I return I am going to clean up wiring and then I am going to consider a different cooler, perhaps even liquid.

but for the R2E Dram Reference Voltage options are
Auto
+0mV
+25mV
+50mV

ect. ect. ect.

I did not want it to change when I oc'd so I set them manually to "+0mV

+0mV is what will give ya a neutral reading in TurboV DRAM memory reference. Neither - or + Zero voltage. Hope that helps....

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Chuck, If things get confusing just leave DRAM Reference on Auto. If your not oc'ing the memory you should be fine.

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

okay, here is a better deffinition

mV stands for millivolt or one thousandth of a volt

in our pc's, and Dram Reference Voltages it adjusts the amout of voltage going to your Dram Channels - 6 channels for Triple Chanel that's why you have 6 options to potentially change settings on.

If you are not overclocking your memory, just leave it set to auto and you should be fine

I was typing this out when Sir Skully answered your question

Thanks Skully, I'm not the fastest at typing.

Basicly I did not want the auto setting to change it when I overclocked. so I forced it to stay put per say lol

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Greetings from Vegas guys. I am here for an electronics assembly and circuit board fab show. It is a little further back in the food chain, the suppliers to ASUS will be here for example.
Before I left I was able to get to 3.8 Ghz with reasonable temps but only for a short Prime 95 test due to time.
Right now I am using a Pent-M notebook, just a little slower

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Greetings Dan, yeah 3800mhz is a good oc. You still might be able to get 4gig on air. I'm going 24/7 on 4200mhz. Its amazing what this little i7 920 will do.....

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Hi everyone

Dan-Baer, I hope you are having a good time there in Las Vagas

I have my 920 oc'd to 4gig, I let it run prime 95 all weekend.
Temps at 21x191 are a bit high but I expecte that on air.
75, 69, 72, 69

so I'm going to start researching liquid cooling to see what kind of investment it's going to take to get that going.
If too expensive, I'll just back the oc down to 3.8 was getting great temps at that speed.

I'll post some screenies for you guys if you want them, just let me know

Hey exc, I kind a figured ya could get a stable 4gig with air. The initial out lay is pricey for a liquid setup. But its good for years after that.....

I'm thinking about possibly upgrading to either the Rampage Extreme 2 or the P6T Deluxe board...along with the i7 920 and 6 GB of Corsair Dominator memory

don't know if it will be worthwhile for me though as I'm primarily concerned with hard core gaming performance vs multitasking or video editing and I think even the i7 systems will be GPU limited

Yeah you may be better served, by going SLI. I've found the RE2 to be a really great oc'ing and stable mobo. Mine runs the i7 920 cpu stable @ 4200mhz......
