Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Really Imppressive Sir Skully. Do you know what the record is with an i920?
I decided to keep the 285 GTX in my main rig so I ordered another one for my test rig. It will be here on Monday. I will just have a spare 8800GTX as an emergency GPU when the replacement comes.

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Another thread I'm going to be following,as my son will be building a Rampage II system for himself(and I suspect I'll be using when he's not around hehe). He feels left out since I built my skyburg and his other brother built a gigabyte dual core system as well,it's definetly more fun to build one's own than to buy a dell or whatever lol

Yeah this is a thread of good info, for someone with a new RE2. I'm sure your son will enjoy the RE2 mobo....

I don't know the record for the 920. There is air cooling, liquid cooling, then extreme cooling. And records for each type of cooling. The best for me, where I can get into windows and do benchies is 4500mhz. With liquid cooling. Yeah that 285 GTX is a nice card....

Here are my temps @ 4.2gig, with no stress on the cpu.
I'm going to try some different thermal grease. And see if I can't get better temps....

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

I used AS-3 then the Zalman formula and then AS-5. Of them all AS-5 gave me the lowest Temps, by far (about 5 Degrees)

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

I reapplied the Ceramique by Arctic Silver and the difference is lower temps on all cores. So it do make a difference how ya apply the different kinds of thermal grease. Here's a couple screenies showing the different temps. After hrs. of stress testing.

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

SS, I see you are using OCCT, do you like it?
I just got my new GTX 285 in to replace the one I "borrowed" so I am back running trying to get a stable overclock.

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

I am trying OCCT V 3.0.2 b03.
I am FINALLY stable at a 3.464 Ghz OC at one hour of stress test using OCCT. My temps are reasonable in the mid 50's. So now I can start to push it up.
Here is a pic at about 50 minutes into the test.

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Hey Dan, yeah I like OCCT its a gooden, Prime95, and Linx also. If ya really want to stress er, use the cpu linpack setting with 90% memory stress. Looking good @ 3400mhz......

Re: *** rampage ii extreme ***

Hi SS, as promised, here are a few pics of the finished rig withoput the side pannel. The only thing I may add once I am done playing (if that ever happens) is a better sound card.
