| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Hey Everyone Sorry I haven't been around lately. Dan-Baer: No new news on your OC I'm still running the R2E at 4.0 I haven't had one single hickup as of yet Temps leave a bit to be desired tho. Sir Skully: nice red fans, I love it I did look at The Apogee™ GTZ, Swiftech's new flagship water-block and a few other components including the Dangerden 4870 GPU cooler. looks like the entire setup will cost about $400 -$450 to get. It doesn't look like I can mount everything in my current case tho. I have the Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower and when I looked at it online and read the reviews, it seemed it was a HUGE case and would house everything I had nicely (which it does with my current setup) just a bit snug. cable management was a pain, the R2E actually covered a lot of the cable management access holes whice made things even more cramped. So I'm not as happy as I thought I would be where the case is concerned. Work has been extremely slow lately. the economy really sucks right now. so with that said, I've put water cooling on the backburner (for now). I've been running a few things through my head about water cooling and how to set it up since my case can't house the components (when I DO have the extra money to spend) I don't need to move my system around, and I was thinking of building a box to house all the watercooling components and letting it set next to my case with just the hoses going from this new box to the computer case. the Antec Twelve Hundred already has watercooling access ports with rubber gromets for the hoses. Ah well, I have plenty of time to think about things yet. again guys, sorry I haven't been around ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Good to hear from ya exc, and nice oc. I at one time ran my water rig outside the box. Thanks, the red breaks up all that blue for a nice change. I haven't heard how Dan's doing with his oc'ing for awhile. Maybe he will post how the oc'ing goes. My oc runs great @ 4.2gig day in day out. Yeah the economy the way it is, makes me glad I'm not raising a family now. RE2 is just one trouble free mobo, at least for me. Time to get out and walk, catch ya later....

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Hi guys, I have not had time to play much the last week. I have had a few issues with the Wifes computer and one of our notebooks, not as mucg fun as playing with the new rig but domestic tranquility... I am stable at 3.6 usually but sometimes a 2-3 hour stress will give me a BSOD. I know I have to play with the voltages. I would like to be at 3.8 stable and then I could back down to about 3.6 for normal use and know I was below the ceiling. I hear that for TechNet subscribers the Win RC1 will be available in about a week or so.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Well I seem to be stable at 3570 but I had to boost my voltages a little. I do not like my Temps however, 73 74 72 72 I have Hyperthreading enabled. As I have finished my slight case mods and finished the assembly I am now running with the case closed. This Tt Armor + case has a large 240mm fan on the door so it would think it would run the same temps as if the door were open/off but in fact I seem to be running a few degrees higher. This could be due to a little warmer ambient Temps however. Do you think if I can reduce my voltages slightly and still stay stable that my temps will be lower? I will let it run for a few more hours then make some adjustments. I see those that have scored 920's with the DO stepping seem to be able to OC higher with lower voltages.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Dan, high voltages = higher temps. Try oc'ing with Hyperthreading disabled. Yeah the Do stepping seems to oc with less voltage. I'm about half a sleep so I'll say good nite for now.... ![]()

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** I use the LED poster everyday. It gives the time among its other features. I've used it to fine tune my voltages, it is handy if used.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Greetings all, OK, I am making some OCing progress. I am stable at 3610. TO get my temps down at 3.4 I reduced voltages and then I have started increasing the Freq. I BSODed at 3.6 so I started to bump voltages and I am stable so far at 3612. I am not thrilled with my temps of 76 75 72 71. I reenabled Hyperthreading so that may be part of it but when I put this rig into service I will be HT so I want to see where I can be stable using HT. All 8 cores are running at 100% I will post some Pics as soon as my stress test runs for at least an other hour. I can tell you that having a seperate test rig is the way to go. There is no fear as if I fry it I will not be down. It makes OCing a bunch more fun.

| Re: *** rampage ii extreme *** Hey Dan, keep on, keeping on, with the ocing. You'll find the cpu sweet spot, 24/7 spot. It takes time, I get mine/oc around fairly quick. Reason, I dig right in. Spend a lot of time reading. What others are doing with the same mobo/cpu. And with years of ocing, even with new stuff, it does come together PDQ. It looks like you're doing a good job of oc'ing. You may not have a good oc'ing chip. The second 920 chip I had was a 3.5/3.6gig oc'er. This one/920 I have now, just plays pretty @ 4.2gig 24/7. I believe it would do the same @ 4.3gig.
