Second hand but in excellent condition ( a saving of over $200 ). Certainly looking forward to my jump too Socket 1366. the chip is a good clocker, can do 3.8ghz very easily with only around 1.32 vcore. So I should be back with more news once I have her up and running.
Sounds great and congrats....
Let us know how goes....

Re: Rampage II Extreme or P6T6 WS Revolution

Haha yeah. Finished building the system! Woohoo.

Was having a nightmare of a time with an error message on startup (Chassis Intruder) which turned out for some reason the jumper on the board wasn't there for the chassis open sensor... so stole one off an old CD drive, and voila... we have life!

Just installed windows 7 and did all the updates. What benchmarks/stress tests you recommend.

Also, what programs should I use to check system... cpu-z? sandra?

Been so long since I've done this new system malarkey

Re: Rampage II Extreme or P6T6 WS Revolution

Just did a run of Prime 95 on all cores, and here's the result

The temps look pretty good I think? This Noctua cooler is the business I Idle at around 35-37c, is this normal?

Re: Rampage II Extreme or P6T6 WS Revolution

Hmm loaded the auto profile on the board for the i7 965, and under load, temps are hitting 80c. Think I'll drop back to stock and do the OC myself Might try and burn in the cpu/memory first tho

Re: Rampage II Extreme or P6T6 WS Revolution

I had cataract surgery this morning. All went well....
But eyes are tired... CPU-Z, Sandra, Real Temp, and a cpu stressor like OCCT, and use linpack on OCCT it will stress the cpu. Then you can see how good your oc is, and again congrats, enjoy.....

Righto, some pics of the case. Photo's are brutally honest eh, as hard as I tried to tidy cables they seem to be all over the shop on the pics! Please forgive my dire photography skills.

Re: Rampage II Extreme or P6T6 WS Revolution

Got my processor to 3.6ghz @ 1.325v... got a few questions.

Should to QPI/Dram voltage be the same as what I've set the CPU voltage to?

Is the above voltage a bit high?

I'm sitting at 180 x 20.0, attached screenshots of cpu-z.

Any advice would be helpful. CPU temp is hitting 90c or so under full load with prime95.
