Random crashes/restarts SLi + overclocked QX6850

Recently added another GPU to form Sli. Never overclocked this system until I added anther GPU. Was not happy with performance, many others suggested I overclock CPU to at least 3.6GHz. CPU runs cool...around 42 @ idle. The error message is WINDOWS RECOVERED FROM BLUE SCREEN. Ever since, I can;t get onto EVGA.COM?!?!?!!? I am running latest Nvidia drivers...186.18. These random crashes would happen at desktop with nothing going on. I think when the monitor goes into hibernation it triggers it?

Please help!!!

Uninstall new Nvidia drivers, and try the next to newest drivers.

I am not sure it's a driver issue as it happened with older drivers as well. Very random and seldom does it blue screen.

Re: Random crashes/restarts SLi + overclocked QX6850

Ok, maybe try turning off hibernation. It and may very well be your oc'ing that's the problem. Try running at default speed and see if that helps.
Idle temp is not so important as when the CPU is under stress. Try OCCT to strees CPU and Real temp to check temp.
Get OCCT CPU stresser here free download....Download - OCCT Website english
And Real Temp here also free...|MG| RealTemp 3.30 RC4 Download

Re: Random crashes/restarts SLi + overclocked QX6850

Will try those tests...THANKS!

Maybe I can enlighten on the problem.....

I put the computer to sleep....then I return to it hours later and it's on! I go and turn on the screen but I get no repsonse! Try and move the mouse or hit keyboard and noting happens....forced to restart! That's the problem.... The restart has not happened in a while!

Look in Power Options/control panel, and see what its set to.
Maybe it needs changed.

Also in the bios under a heading of * Power * I hope, as our mobo's are different. Look and see if anything needs turned off.

Re: Random crashes/restarts SLi + overclocked QX6850

Ran Prime 95 for about 6 hours stress test with no hiccups. CPU ran @ 70c.

Seems to restart once in a blue moon on idle. I have an Xbox hooked to the same LCD while playing the xbox and the computer was running. I noticed the computer restarted as it made a BEEP.. Error message was.....BLUE SCREEN.

OCCT and using Linpack...will do a better job of stressing your cpu..

Hey,
Here are the bios settings....
FSB Linked
FSB ratio-Synced 1800
Mem timings
5-5-5-18-2t & 4-25-6-10-Auto
Volts
CPU Auto current value-1.38v changed it to currently 1.41250
CPU FSB 1.4v
Mem 2.1v
Nforce SSP Auto current value-1.4v
" '" MCP Auto current value-1.5v
" " HT Auto current value-1.20v
CPU 8x
PCI-16(100)
SPP(Auto)
HT Spectrum(off)
PCI " " (off)
SATA " " (off)

Tried a few settings with the CPU core....stock was at AUTO

-changed it to 1.4000
ran OCCT
FROZE!

-then to 1.41250
ran OCCT
came back to
RESTART!

Wondering if other voltages have anything to do with it?

Did you try unlinking the FSB?

Re: Random crashes/restarts SLi + overclocked QX6850

unlinked it.....changed MEM # to 1066 and changed the volts to....

CPU 1.41250v
FSB 1.4v
Mem 2.1v
SPP 1.45v
MCP 1.525v
HT 1.25v
Ran CPUID and noticed that the CPU v-core is still at stock 1.360v even though I changed it in bios and saved it!
