ATi 'Improved' OpenGL drivers for games like HL2 from TechConnect

http://www.tcmagazine.info/modules.p...ticle&sid=8386

I don't play these type of games so I guess this is a FYI for those of you that want to try them out.

Interesting....ATI is supposed to be ahead in this game anyway, but a boost of 5-20% is welcome. I'll try them after I scour the earth for the game, and then download it.

It would be interesting to see how other games run with this driver since it's optimized for HL2.. I think I will not touch a thing right now. Counter Strike Source runs great and I'll check and see how HL2 runs with my current drivers(Omega 2.5.90) in about 13 hours if all goes well with them releasing the activation code. Time to get a nap in so I can stay up late and tonight with HL2

HL2 uses Open Gl. I saw it today on STEAMS website.

Nope, its directx

And from an interview with Rick Ellis, software engineer at Valve:

Quote:
Does Source engine support OpenGL, or it has only DirectX renderer?

Rick Ellis: DirectX only.
