I really don't think it is worth upgrading from a 9700pro to a 9800pro..NO, its just not that much faster...

I will wait for the R400 to come out (when ever that is )

PCI Express (formerly known as 3GIO).

ATi have shown demonstration cards with PCI Express connectors at IDF I believe (with an AGP/PCI Express bridge).

PCI Express 16x will be the first speed used, capable of 4GB/s or something like that. Next year, the Grantsdale chipset will have PCI Express I believe.

Hehe, ISA version...

What continues to perplex me, who of sound body and mind, would purchase the nVidia GeForce FX 5800 (non-ultra) over the ATI 9700 PRO? The GF/FX 5800 is the newest underperformer I have ever seen. It is a colossal failure and waste of money. I expect to see that piece of junk being heavily dumped in the OEM market.

Yes I agree with you..

Its sad to see but reminds me of 3dfx's Voodoo 5 failure and I do hope that Nvidia can bounce back and not go the way 3dfx did

The reason OEM manufacturers abandoned FX is cause its huge power requirements. That's another victory for 9800...

From the benchies I've seen, it doesn't look like you would notice any difference between the two cards in real world situations. Additionally the consensus seems to be that very few games can really tax the 9700 Pro. I'm getting the 9700 pro in a few days

ROFL AGR964

IMHO the 9700 Pro is the best bang for your buck and is the way to go with your vertical upgrade plans.

Go ATI Go!
