| HELP, TV out is black & white, UGH!!!!! Setup: TNT2 Ultra: using svideo out, going thru the s-video-to-yellow RCA adapter to connect to my Sony 27" Trinitron. nVidia 41.09 98SE ALL I see is B&W! No matter what I try I can not get color. The picture I see on my TV is mostly clear. It does have a slight distortion, yet visable enough to see the desktop and to operate the controls. I'm in the US so I'm using M/NTSC. I've tried other formats(PAL, etc.) for fun/troubleshooting, but it is clear that NTSC is the right format, it's just stuck in B&W. I've tried all kinds of settings within the nVidia driver app with no luck. I've also tried TVTool 6.8 with no luck either. I'm confident in my yellow Video RCA INPUT into my TV. It works, for I use it all the time with my handycam. I'm not positive that my S-Video OUT on my TNT2 Ultra is functioning properly. I think it is otherwise I would see NO picture on my TV. Also, I do see a few patches of color. While I have the desktop displayed on the TV, a couple icons do have a little bit of color around the edges(i.e. around the My Computer icon, it's slightly orangish, and only orangish on the let edge of the icon). Also while using TVTool, with the test bars displayed, a couple of "blocks" of color appears, as if in a pattern. What am I over looking? All suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated? TIA, etalon |

| Why are you going through yellow on an RCA adatper? If you have a Sony Triniton 27" (same as mine), then you can just go S-video to S-video. Mine works fine that way. |

| All I could see for about 15 yrs was black & white TV. From the 1950's into the 60's.

| No s-video cable Good point, that is my next step, go out and buy an s-video-to-s-video cable. I own the s-video-to-yellow RCA adapter so I thought what the heck, try it. It's supposed to work right? Why would Creative Labs package it with the TNT2 Ultra in the first place? |

| Skully, I appreciate that! I don't quite remember only B&W, but I do remember just having 3 channels of color via the good old rabbit ears. hehe |

I think I did have to buy an S-video to S-video for my Ti4400 too, but it was only about $6 or something at circuit city.

| KingTermite, Yeah, I figure I'd give RadioShack a try, they're 3 minutes down the road. Otherwise, it's Compusa or BestBuy, 15 minutes, which is a toss-up really... I was hoping this would be a simple fix, even by using the RCA. I'll post my results of using and s-video-to-s-video, sometime later today.... Thanks for your input! |

| Ive had that happen once with my V8200 Asus GF3 deluxe.. Turned out that either my TV was set to the wrong video in or that i had used the wrong setting or plug. I believe that the SVIDEO uses a seperate channel for each color while Composite is just one signal containing all colors. Check your wiring and setup on both the TV and vid card. Make sure that the input for your TV is the correct one as most TVs have Video 1 IN for SVideo and Video 2 for composite. If i remember correctly the composite signal actually worked when i was using the Svideo in but since it wasnt on the right video input mode (2) it displayed it all in B/W since i think the inputs for both SVIDEO and Composite have common hardwired signal sharing.

| types of s-video Ah, i just thought of another question. What's the difference between 4 pin and I think 7 pin s-video. My TNT2 ultra has the 7 pin variety. My Handycam has the 4 pin variety. As I was troubleshooting I tried plugging in my svid-to-yellowRCA adapter that came with my vid card into my handycam. No Love. I looked at the connector and saw the pin difference. I was hoing to rule out the adapter as faulty. Any info on the difference? Thanks again. Last edited by etalon; 03-08-2003 at 12:58 PM.. |

Interesting point about the composite and svideo selection for Vid1 and Vid2, respectively. I just tried them both. Both appear the same, I can not distinguish between the two - again, I'm pluggged into Vid2 on my TV. Both display B&W, both are equally clear, with slight distortion. <edit> I've also tried, thru the nVidia app, the Auto-select(auto between composite and svideo). Here again I see no difference in video quality. Thanks for your input. Last edited by etalon; 03-08-2003 at 01:01 PM..

| Try the setup in your TV menu. I had the same problem playing USA DVD's on one of my TV's in Australia (PAL). One set was OK the other was B & W. On the TV set went into setup and changed from PAL to Auto - now colour! |
