Re: How can I up my FPS in game?

Wingit, take into account his CPU and RAM. He should be able to reach around 30fps with that spec, I'm sure. With everything on low at that res.

Here is a youtube of someone playing with that card

Frankly, I'm surprised it runs....looked at the video and I guess it does Zap, but the framerate in that video was nowhere near 30 fps (way too choppy) and did not look remotely playable for what is, after all, a snap reflex shooter.
I wish I could offer more help, but it boils down to a either a card replacement for an agp centric board or a total system change, which I understand is not always possible. I wish the OP good luck.

I always speak in terms of peak fps and the average is always going to be lower in any given map. I agree Wingit that its unplayable at that level of quality and fps... some people like to maximise fps in multiplayer games irregardless of quality. But a peak of around 30fps pretty much does knock you out of the competition these days so what would be the point?

And as for sp; I never understood the point of lowering quality that far, it completely ruins the experience IMO so, once again, why bother?

....I get around 30 FPS in UT2004....lol....But I manage with that, what kills me is when my ping skyrockets, which it does from time to time...Probably why I stick to invasion :S

Re: How can I up my FPS in game?

I did a favor on my ASUS P4C800-E and added ,
one AMD HD3850 (AGP) Sapphire .

I found the power that I was looking for , on gaming,
plus all this new HD futures , for the modern multimedia stuff .

I had to add one Zalman GV1000 , but now , I have piece of mind ,
and an quiet companion .

It seems like you're facing an upgrade. The HD3850 that syncmaster mentioned is a possiblity... except that your CPU would be a bottleneck and you wouldnt get the maximum performance from that card.

I'd recommend allocating some funds, or saving some cash, and investing in a new...er system if you can.

Re: How can I up my FPS in game?

Well at 1024x768 with the HD 3850 , everything runs fast enough .
Some games could run even at 1600x1200 .

If some one is more demanding , he must open his wallet further.

Now , in comparison with the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 !!

I would say that the HD3850 burns nitro as fuel , and the FX 5200 charcoal !!

Absolutely, its a decent performance upgrade. And you're right about the lower resolutions ... many recent games will be very playable. All I meant was that you wont get the full potential of the card due to the CPU bottleneck, so it works out to be less cost effective on that front.

I guess it comes down to how big the budget is. I cant recommend investing further in AGP if the funds are there to move on. I'd say sell the current system; add the money you would have spent on the AGP card and put it towards a new system. More expensive option, but probably more cost-effective in the long run as it gives access to all the newer games at the bigger resolutions.

Just depends on the available funds. If they're not there for a new system, then the HD3850 becomes the attractive option.
