| Hi all. I have a question that either may not have an answer, or may be embarrassingly obvious. Here goes : on reboot before the POST my monitor switches off then on quickly (once). However, before I upgraded my graphics card to the radeon 9700 pro I used a Geforce3 card, and on reboot the monitor stayed on during this process. My worries are that the off/on switching may stress components in my monitor, and so is there a setting or method to control this. My OS is XP home, and although rebooting is not so neccessary now with this OS, there are times when you need to re-start several times in succession (new hardware,re-install of windows etc.). my monitor is a 19" Sony E400. thanks

| mine does the same with an LG 995e, and I never considered it as a problem, just accepted it as part of the boot process. I think it did the same with my gf4. anyway not really any advice for you, just confirming that it happens to others.

| Although annoying, that is normal behavior. You can see a more severe version of the same issue here (link). Separately, although the image is going off, you are not cycling the monitor's power supply as you would when you turn the monitor off. For example, even going into sleep mode should not hurt a monitor at all. |
