| Multiple Monitors on CUSL2 I'm trying to run 2 monitors on my CUSL2 mobo. I currently have an Asus v7700 GTS2 card running and I have also installed an old S3 Trio PCI video card in. My problem is, for me to get Win ME to recognise both cards, I have to go into my bios and set "VGA Bios Sequence" to PCI being the Primary controller. Otherwise if I make the AGP being the pirmary Windows ME (under Control Panel/Settings/System/Device Manager - The S3 Trio has an exclamation mark next to it) If I set PCI as primary controller in the Bios, it then works, but my problem is that I DON'T want the crappy old PCI card to be the "Primary" display. I'd rather my v7700 to be the main display and the S3 Trio as the secondary. IE. I want Win ME to bootup with desktop showing on the v7700 . I also have bios revision (1006a). I do design work and really need this sort of functionality. I don't really want to go out and buy a dual head video card as I've already spent a wad of cash already on my v7700. If there is a way for me to use the onboard VGA in conjunction with the AGP card but still have the AGP card being primary then that would be cool too. Please help if you can! Kaneda. |

| Multiple Monitor Problem - Info Here! Thanks Harry, But I've managed to sort this problem out. It turns out that my crappy S3 Trio was "really" crappy! So crappy that its not a supported card according to MS Knowledge base. After checking the article (below) I managed to get my hands on another PCI card with a supported graphics chip (ViRGE DX (385) ) It worked perfectly after that. So anyone wanting to try to install another graphics card to run another monitor check the article below first and make sure your graphics card has one of the listed chips. Otherwise you may get it to work but not to the way that you may want, Eg. read my first post. MS Knowledgebase Link ------------------------------- http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q182/7/08.ASP PS: You may get problems with your monitor having a flickering line go up or down the the screen. This is because the monitors maybe too close. I managed to reduce this annoying effect by making the Adapter refresh rates to "Optimal" on both AGP and PCI cards Regards, Kaneda. |
