| Re: need a 3870 Just an update: The system has crashed a couple times, but I'm 99% certain its a driver issues... A format/reinstall may help. Its not overheating. Idles at 40/42 and the hottest I've seen is 58c... Reseating the heatsink, and the BIOS fix was a great combo. P.S. My 2407FPW monitor's power button just crapped out after 14 months... I tried to convince the Rep to replace it with a 2408FPW... but wouldn't go for it... Good news is, I should have a replacement here for the end of the week. I had to dust off the ol' 21" CRT ![]()

anyways, it's good to have a 3yr warranty and dell service is much improved lately.

| Re: need a 3870 About Dell's service... The lady on the phone had me a little nervious at first... She had a (small) attitude, and could not find my info... she asked for a number, I told her, all I had was the recipt #... she said that wouldn't do, and she needed this other number... and proceeded to tell me it may be on the back of the computer. I told her I didn't buy a computer, just a monitor. She said she couldn't help if I didn't have that number!! Then she told me the monitor only had a 1yr warranty! I bought the extented 5yr warranty!! She didn't know how that could be, and put me on hold... Came back on the line with a totally different attitude (Happy) she apologized, made some small talk (she's from Ontario where it just dumped 1 foot of snow or more overnight) asked a few more questions, and said a new monitor would be shipped out rigft away... So a slow and frustrating start, but a happier ending... I don't have the resources to purchase/upgrade the monitor. I just got a GPS system (Garmin Nuvi 650) to try some GEOCaching !! ![]()

| Re: need a 3870 Cool.. usually I like to upgrade to dell gold support, and that way I always deal with the US tech dudes.. makes things happen faster indeed ! It also helps to be located in Austin, just a few miles away from the Roundrock TX warehouse !
