Radeon 9700 price drop!?

Anyone have any "inside info" on whether or not there's a price drop scheduled for the 9700 pro soon? Im thinking of picking one up if it gets down to the $225 or so price mark.

thanks!

Oh man, I hate having computers as a hobby, you never feel like you got the right thing or a good deal. What is the best today is 2nd tier tomorrow.

)Well, it looks like Best Buy online has the best price for a Radeon 9700 Pro Retail right now (~$300) - plus 9 months interest free financing if you have a BB card.

9700 Pro @ BB

With the price drop I was thinking of asking my wife for an early BDay present. But when I mentioned that I thought the price was going down because of the new 9800 comming out soon - she said maybe I should wait. I tend to whine a bit when something faster comes out just after I bought a new component (darn and she's right )

Well, with the 9700 Pro price drop, even I may not be able to resist the 9700

Maybe this will finally let me retire my poor original Radeon DDR

My original Radeon 32Mb DDR is in my wife's machine. It was a good card, once they got the drivers staightened out. I'm guessing the R350 will have pretty good drivers out of the box, since it's almost identical to the R300.
