| Radeon Cooling Mod Complete (Warning: 75K of Pictures) Okay, we talked about it earlier in this thread and I just completed my mod. I took a 9500non-pro, reflashed the bios for overclocking and soft modded it to a 9700 but was worried about cooling. Things get really warm with this board. My solution: Better cooling on the core by adding a $9 copper socket a heatsink, ramsinks cut from $3 aluminum electronics heatsink, and a heatsink on the back of core attached via Skully Putty (aka Fun-Tak). Photos: Larger photo Larger Photo Larger Photo Larger Photo The copper cooler was attached with a mixture of artic alumina adhesive and thermal paste as well as nuts and bolts shielded from the board by rubber grommets and plastic washers. The ramsinks were cut with a dremel and attached with artic alumina adhesive. A 50CFM/36DBa Fan was then made to blow onto the new sinks. Stock speeds and drivers yielded around 11K in 3DMark 2001SE, with the mods and new cooling I am safe to OC the core to 390-400 resulting in 16K in 3DMark 2001SE. | Thanks. It Is big but I don't have any PCI cards in this machine so the space is well used. I feel pretty comfortable running this card at 390core/300memory now, up from 275/270 at stock settings. |

| That's the business! It really helped with the back of the Radeon's GPU core. At any overclock over 330 on the core it got really hot. Now with fun-tak and heatsink it gets a little warm but only after stress testing it for 5 consecutive runs of 3DMark03. There's a ton of big components on the back but with the skully-putty you can just apply a thick layer to cover everything up and it transfer the heat to whatever size heatsink you want to use. |

| Artic fun-tak instructions sat apply only a thin layer for best cooling.
